RH,

Both paths are used by pros. Timing, approach and location dependent The ‘application’ of where and when is where all the confusion comes in.

trying to stay inside an outside pitch helps delay release and ‘go with’ the pitch. While doing the same on an inside pitch takes away power due to less release of the barrel but gives more time to see it deeper.

Mr. Jones looks a little different at game speed. Just saying.

Jones looks rushed in his early career compared to the toe tap where he was waiting on the ball. Rafael was the same way, rushed, a hard move early in his career, compared to his toe tap and his signature smooth swing.

They practice this hand path because the more/faster you extend hips the more/faster the path gets pointed up.

The faster you swing it down the sooner it can turn up with your body. His 0 degree perfect contact off a tee becomes a 5 degree double off the wall. Then if he happens to have a 1/2 inch low contact on the ball its in the upper deck!

Chipper is demo-ing the real HL swing there.

He's facing ML pitching every day. EVERY DAY. And he practices that every day. Soto does his "stupid" knob hitting ball drill everyday. Why?

How many TB hitters face a garcia, abbot, osterman, barnhill, 70+ every day. I'll give a hint it's 0.

These HOF MLB players know what they are doing.
