Looks pretty slick!
You think I would be working for them or getting commission, but it’s very sturdy for being above ground and the trapezoid shape makes it plenty roomy.

We are going to redo the ground under net. It also it a bit saggy since we have lights on it. We use it for pitching practice and have team come over and use it if the want and most do weekly.

This was a Covid 2020 project. 6x6 posts. 3 on one side 2 on the other. The intent was to lift one side up to allow a pitcher to pitch from 43 feet. The net is 12x12x35 from Batting Cages Inc. I have 3 steel cables connected to hand cranks so I can drop the net if needed. Had to drop it a couple of weeks ago due to an ice storm that was weighing it down. I used horse stall mats from tractor supply for the batter boxes. When I need to mow the lawn, I push the net to one side, mow, and then push it to the opposite side. takes about 2 min each side.

When my DD was 11yo, I leveled out an area behind my garage and built a 30 x 10 x 10 hitting cage. Having enough distance for pitching from 43' was never a concern. The frame is fence toprail (1-3/8 x 10'-6") with connection fittings from ebay and a net from Amazon. I found a source for used turf to cover the entire dirt floor. I built a permanent pitching screen at 20' from the hitting end. Net result is my release point at about 17' from the plate. It has served its purpose very well for 6 years. If I had to do it over, I would have made the the cage 40 x 12 x 12. The 10' width means the plate has to be pushed off-center to allow my DD enough space to swing.

Build a 15x60 shed. Put in led wafer lights, heat and AC. She'll be able to hit/pitch/throw whenever she wants. Day, night, hot, cold, rain, sleet or snow won't stop her. This is what I would do if I have the space.

When she's done you can use it to store your motorcycle, boat and atv's.

At the previous spot we had PVC pipes hammered in ground, metal poles sat inside of pipes (so could remove easily).

At current house we made a spot in the basement specifically for a cage. Used the same netting, just on a wire track system attached to the floor beams. 20200427_174129_HDR.jpg20200427_174515_HDR.jpgBasement Cage2.jpgBasement Cage1.jpg

Thinking about building a batting cage. Looking for opinions, tips do’s and don’ts from folks that have already been through this. If you could post up a pic of yours that would be awesome. Want something that will last even if I have to spend a little more up front.

Best investment I’ve ever done. Trapezoid cage, carpet, mat, pitching machine…
