Are tournaments being canceled due to the heat?

I saw that USATF postponed Olympic tryouts until around 9 P.M. in Eugene, Oregon. I think after a couple of athletes had to be taken away for heat exhaustion they realized they had a problem.

We played 5 games last weekend in Bakersfield in 110* weather. There was never any mention of the possibility of cancellation.

Utah played couple weeks ago 110°
Team who came in 2nd for afa nationals played 4 games that day.

Something you never had to worry about with PGF.
72° is the high in Huntington Beach this week, just left Oklahoma City, where it was 93° and raining and arrived in Boulder where it will be 83° and raining.
Worried about what it will be in Oklahoma City in a month for Alliance.

We canceled a tourney last year or the year before when it was 112 and turf field...... I gave an F no and the tourney also canceled.

We played 8 games in Lubbock, Tx this last weekend. 5 on Friday alone in 101 degrees (heat index was 105 or so). Surprisingly, the girls handled it pretty well.

Back in 16U we were playing a tournament in Georgia, I kept waiting for them to pull the plug! So hot you couldn't breathe but my girls handled it fine, no issues. It was the umpires I was worried about, there was 5 or 6 that got carted off in ambulances that Friday and Saturday! Dropping like flies!

In Texas, they just play no matter how hot. We played a 3:00 game in Aug two years ago and we went through 3 pitchers and two catchers in 4 innings. It was ridiculous. Neither team even cared if they won.

I know PGF is not perfect but when it comes to the weather it is a clear winner.
