Always surprised that people complain about the cost of bats when they have no problem, for example, spending hundreds of dollars a month eating out at restaurants. These are your DD's "tools of her trade" that she will be using year-round, why not give them some quality equipment? When you annually pay $2,000 for pitching and hitting lessons, a $300 bat doesn't seem too bad to me.

I dont think its the buying a bat thing that people complain about. If I am right, its the outrageous retail on them. 349, 399, 449...yada yada. It doesnt seem to stop. Years ago, 299 was the norm for retail. I never thought bats would top that. Then Easton pushed 349 and 399. Then followed by LS with their 349 bat. Then Easton crushing that with 449. And then Demar moving their line to 349.

Once, in between games in Glendale, AZ., we went to the softball store. My DD wanted a DeMarini bat that was $$$. Her first at bat, she hit a HR. It was the best $$$, that I ever spent.

Prices for bats, like everything else, are what the market will bear. If someone is willing to spend $1000 on a bat, someone will price them at $1000.
