When DD went, they weren't going as the USA National Team, and they didn't play the Italian National Team, though one of the clubs DD played against had a couple of members of the National Team. DD's team was a group of high school girls from the east coast area (1 player was from California). It was what it was advertised to be. It was a fun, international educational experience where the team was able to play softball and be ambassadors of the game. They wore USA on their jerseys because they were players from (gasp) USA. If DD's TB team all went together, I'd expect them to wear their TB uniforms during the games, but that wasn't the group that took the trip. DD's particular team was chosen based on personal statements on a website. The coach invited them based on their character of that statement. It was a great experience for what it was. DD had such a great time last year that she committed to fundraising to go with the same coach to the Dominican Republic this summer. If it doesn't make sense financially, don't go.
