Bringing up Casedawg today while talking with @Westwind, and then walking in my closet today after work and seeing this Vinci made me think of this. This is a custom Vinci I gave to Anna for Christmas 2013, she had just turned 12 in September several months before.

It’s a 12” H-web custom made from Kip leather, it has no model number, it just has “12 INCH” stamped on the thumb. I originally thought it was based off of a Vinci JSJS model, but that was never really confirmed!

The Kip leather on this glove is phenomenal, and it still is, it’s still brick hard and feels great to the touch after all these years. The size and pattern of this glove is VERY close / similar to a 12” Rawlings Pro1000, very close!

Rous did a full rebuild in June 2015, including thumb & pinky stays, and I know total I’ve probably re-laced the web and fingertips 5 / 7 times?

You guys know there’s been 10 / 12 different Vinci gloves through our house, this one is head & shoulders way above any other Vinci I’ve ever handled! If Vinci still made a E4397E7B-E4EE-4ABA-9230-BD704FE3D913.jpeg61571014-7A57-4BA3-AC83-EE245EEDB464.jpeg0A820572-8432-476E-8277-E85FADC141C3.jpeg2BBF1A2C-8553-4710-9EBF-83B12926C489.jpeg16BC08E2-ED59-482B-A415-4FF3D0817F26.jpegglove of this quality, I’d still own several. I remember quite a few years back, @Eric F had a Vinci for sale, I still to this day wish I would have bought it, it was one of the older stand out Vinci’s!

This glove was a brick, just ridiculous! I still remember that Christmas morning, Anna put it on and literally couldn’t budge it! She said Dad, what am I supposed to do with this? I can promise you guys, none of your girls are breaking in anything close to this glove unless it’s a Kip Vinci catchers mitt!

No idea why it split what I wrote to the top & bottom? Here’s a couple of pics Rous sent me in June 2015, the day we left to go on vacation at the Outer Banks, I shipped it to him in Texas, explained to him we HAD to have it back the day after we got back from vacation for a camp. It arrived the day we got home, the guy is awesome!

This particular glove, and having Rous around the same time restore a 30+ year old Wilson A2000 XLO were both the gateway gloves that got me started down this money sucking rabbit hole!

I’ll never part with this Vinci, very special glove for me, I wish I could remember all the special moments this glove was a part of!

Question for you:

How long is too long on the laces/knots. Some of those are like 5 inches long. Your DD can scratch the SS's nose with some of those. :p

I like them fairly long, when I lace one I like to keep the lace 4" long from the knots at the web base and the thumb & pinky, and then trim from there.....or not! ;)

But definitely no less than 3" at those 3 different spots! 3.5" to 4" is a great length that you can retie if for some reason you have to untie your glove, plus I think it looks better with longer laces, just personal preference.
