AMERICAN AMATEUR YOUTH SOFTBALL ALLIANCE

AAYSA

Beginning this summer (2013) AAYBA will be adding a girls softball program (AAYSA) featuring a Non-Sanctioned "Open" World Series Tournament to be played in the St Louis metro areas. Teams from all sanctions are welcome ASA, NSA, USSSA, PONY, AAU, etc. There are no sanctioning fees, you will not be "required" to play in any "qualifying" tournaments to gain acceptance. The tournaments will be 6-8 game formats featuring the same drop-down format as our boys program whereas teams from all talent levels are invited and will have a chance to win a championship against comparable teams. Age groups 10U-18U will be offered. The AAYSA World Series is a great way to either serve as your post-season National tournament or in many cases serve as a bridge between the conclusion of league and tournament play and the beginning of the various other National/World Series events.

AAYSA WORLD SERIES - MISSOURI OVERVIEW

Entry Fee: The entry fee for both 2013 AAYSA World Series events is $395 for a six to eight game format (weather permitting). For early entries a $100 discount is available see below.

PROMOTIONS AND ENTRY DISCOUNTS

With the economy struggling we realize that every dollar saved is very important to everyone, which is why we have implemented the following promotion for our 2013 participants. Teams that submit their PAID entry on or before June 1st may deduct $100 from your entry fee and pay just $295. Enter promo code "Early Bird" in the promotions box on your application. Teams paying AFTER June 1st must pay the full $395 entry. The entry fee includes umpire fees. Teams must supply the softballs.

Individual and team trophies - The AAYSA “Open” World Series gives awards to every player on every team at the conclusion of their last game. The Tournament Director will present awards to those players listed on the AAYSA approved roster from original check in and late check in rosters. Only players on those approved rosters, and present at awards ceremony will receive awards. No extra awards will be given and no awards will be shipped. PLAYERS MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE THEIR AWARD –– NO EXCEPTIONS! In the event of a rain out, teams competing for 1st and 2nd place will be given Co-Champion awards. The highest seed will receive the
1st place award, and the lower seed will receive the runner up award. The recipients of the runner up award will receive a new name plate saying Champion. These will be sent to the manager for distribution.

Early withdrawal: Any team pulling from the event for any reason, after your entry has been received will forfeit your entry ... no exceptions.

Number of games: All teams will play a minimum of 6-8 games weather permitting.

Special Start Requests: Before entering the AAYSA World Series, make sure your team has no other conflicts during the scheduled dates. AAYSA cannot guarantee any special game time requests! Local teams especially, we cannot and will not schedule you only in the evening. Teams need to be prepared to play at the first scheduled game of the tournament and any time throughout the day until the last game of the tournament. For those of you with more than one child participating and for coaches and managers coaching more than one team ... we cannot guarantee that your teams won't be playing at the same time. Managers, be sure to have another coach ready to cover you in case your teams are playing at the same time.

AAYSA does not guarantee the number of teams however, we expect 16-32 teams in all age groups.

Balls: For all AAYSA events … each team will be required to supply two new balls each game. Coaches prepare for this and bring at least two dozen new softballs. The batting team is required to shag all foul balls, home runs, etc. Softballs will be returned at the conclusion of the game. If for some reason a ball is lost or cut, the home team will provide the first extra ball and the visiting team will
provide the next ball. If needed this rotation will continue.

World Series schedules WILL NOT be available in advance .... Schedules will be distributed to all managers at check-in and be available online the evening prior to check-in.

Each team must also present "proof of insurance" listing AAYSA as an additional insured. I assure you this is required by all National events and the additional insured is quite common. A copy of your insurance certificate will be required at check-in. You are free to purchase insurance from any company of your choice. However, we highly recommend Chappell Insurance Agency. Their rates are quite competitive and the insurance covers you for all events that you play in for a twelve month period.

All teams must present one of the following for age verification:

Original government issued Birth Certificate

Government issued "Certified Copy", with government seal

Original passport

Original USA immigration card

Original Military issued ID card (issued by the appropriate Department of Defense)

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT PHOTO COPIES

Admission: Gate fees for our World Series events are $35 at check-in, and $40 at the gate for a week-long pass once the tournament has started. You may also purchase daily passes for $10 per day, the daily passes are non-refundable. Children ages 15 or younger are always admitted free.

Adverse weather or rain: AAYSA may play in adverse weather conditions. However, our format may be changed to lesser time limits or less innings only, and in a worst case, a game or two could be cut from the schedule only to complete the tournament. Coaches and players accept these conditions when entering the tournament....

DROP DOWN FORMAT

We utilize our drop down format whereas all teams will receive six to eight games (weather permitting) and champions will be crowned in several levels of play - Platinum, Diamond, Gold, and Silver, (however, the format may be altered depending on the number of teams entered).

LOOK WHO IS COMING

We feel that it is important to list a "Look Who is Coming"as it allows our participants to know well in advance what type of event they will be attending. There are too many National events that play "I've got a secret" regarding their list of teams, and in most cases that is a signal that the field of teams are low and that the event is in danger of cancellation. Whether our list is big or small we let you know BEFORE you get there what you can expect. In the last couple of years there were several World Series events that cancelled due to lack of teams. Late in the year I have spoken with many teams that were in distress because their event cancelled at the last minute. At AAYSA we will post a "Look who is Coming" as always by no later than May 15th, 2013 for teams that have registered for all of our World Series events.

It is very important when considering a National or World Series event to find out who is attending and if they do indeed have the teams that they advertise. Do yourself a favor and print out the team list that is advertised by all of the National events you are considering, AAYSA included, and later compare them to who actually attended. You owe it to yourself and to your parents to have up to date information when choosing a post season tournament. Last year many events advertised teams that they simply did not have and in the end many teams found out too late to save their year end tournament. I assure you that we will post current and correct information, good or bad, so you can make an informed and intelligent decision regarding attending an AAYSA World Series event.

HOTEL INFORMATION

Teams are not required to stay in our sponsoring hotels. For scheduling purposes all teams are considered in town either as a local team or an out of town team staying in a local hotel. Therefore all teams must be prepared to play when scheduled which includes rain schedules. We will not schedule around travel time for those commuting from more than hour away. For the AAYSA World Series teams are free to book their lodging on their own. We don't require teams to book through AAYSA for this event. We would however, appreciate you patronizing our "sponsoring" hotels. For a complete list of these hotels please click on the link below:

HAVE ONE PERSON FROM YOUR TEAM GO IN AND BOOK YOUR TEAMS ROOMS. THIS PERSON WILL ALSO FILL OUT THE ROOMING LIST FOR YOUR TEAM. For those of you booking hotels for your team, we encourage you to book early since there are a limited number of rooms available at each hotel, and we are expecting an extremely large turnout for the tournament.

■Forty Six of our Fifty states including three foreign countries
■more than 7600 teams representing 80,000 players and coaches
