Sorry, that was an abbreviated statement. It is definitely preferred to have umpires at JV games, it's great for development (of players and umpires), however wins and losses don't have a post season consequence for JV.
We've had umpires not show for JV games and the coaches did exactly as you described, really for JV it doesn't matter. I'm guessing it's a situation where you have an ump call in to their coordinator that they can't make it, coordinator calls the AD and the AD doesn't see the message right...
Recently on a bat testing youtube channel they compare a BBCOR, BESR, slow pitch and then I think a 2020 GA 34/26 hitting baseballs. The GA held up and was getting 115+ exit velos, so maybe DDs need to hit the gym and start swinging heavy bats, then they won't break anymore :)
Faster than she looks, she has really long legs so they don't look like they are moving fast but she covers ground.
This ball was very high to the left center gap.
My DD had to play varsity starting in 7th grade just so the school could field a team, however, it would have been better for her to play JV and get more ABs anyway. I know it helped my son in baseball.
