    Cf8 vs 2020 CF

Agreed. Found a good deal on a new 2020 last year and pulled the trigger. DD liked it until she swung a Ghost and saw how the ball jumped off the bat significantly more. CF is now her cage and cold weather bat.

    HS Softball Started

Wouldn't be at all surprised if it's a rematch in the finals again this year. Most of JMHS is back as well. Both teams have great youth programs that seem to continuously restock the high schools. We had 45 girls tryout this year. PS - the Ghost you sold me is working out really well for my...

    EXACT National Showcase Camp

@V493 that's a discreet screen name, but I'm guessing we know one another based on the Smash logo! We signed Alison up for the EXACT camp. A little concerned it could be a money grab, but the pricing wasn't that bad IMO so figured it was worth the risk. -Scott G

    Coaches getting paid

We pay per "event" with practice counting as one event and each game as well. Have seen organizations pay per season and those coaches sometimes don't feel the incentive to show up all the time.

    Goal Setting

Attached is one that I plan to use for my 12u team this spring. I forget if I found it online or if a fellow coach passed it along. Good luck and have fun this season!

Advice on DD opening too wide

My 13yr old DD has had that same issue and continues to battle it. A couple of drills her PC has her work on are arm circles against the wall (example - ) and PVC pipe (ex - ). This site also has some great resources in the Pitching Forum...paricularly this thread...

    Weather Pods/Tents

Nice - my wife is the one requesting one as a Christmas present.

    Weather Pods/Tents

Curious if anyone recommends a particular brand weather pod. We were at a tournament a couple of weeks ago and became very envious of some folks who were protected from the elements.

    Drop 11 Bats

I’ve seen a few comments in general discussions about no matter what bat you choose to stay away from drop 11, but never any reasoning why. Can anyone please explain how much of a difference there is between say a 32/21 and 32/22? Is there less pop? My DD is 13 with a medium build (5’5 125) and...

Struggling with IR - Return to HE?

Not sure if I'm posting these videos correctly, but one is from 2B the other from side. She clearly opens too early and her right shoulder rotates too far pulling her head away from home. Also has a bit of a crow hop and lacks FSR. Any other observations? Any drills recommended to help with...

Getting a rec team to hit

I like to hold scrimmages with live pitching, but after 4 balls I come in and pitch the rest of the at-bat...keeps things moving and gets meaningful reps for pitcher, hitter, and catcher. We're 12u now, but started this in 10u when we were in last place mid-season. Pitchers improved vastly and...

Struggling with IR - Return to HE?

Seems I worded some of that improperly, but totally get your points. Instead of "forcing the rollover" it should've read "forcing the palm down on follow through"...which is creating bullet spin but slowing down her velocity in the process. Short arming her delivery was more to do with the coach...

Struggling with IR - Return to HE?

Appreciate everyone's responses, but this one I think will really sink in with my DD. One day she was struggling to throw anything near the plate while practicing before a private tryout that evening, but when the moment came she somehow let everything go and was loose. She wound up hitting...

Struggling with IR - Return to HE?

DD is 13 and has been pitching 4 years. Her original PC was an oldschool guy whose DD pitched in the SEC several years ago. Needless to say he knew nothing about IR, but my DD thrived under him for a couple of years. However she reached a point where it seemed he had taken her as far as he could...

    How Critical is Brush

I know this post is from 5 years ago, but had to chime in as my daughter is recovering from a stress fracture that is a result of repeated "bonking" of the hip. She's on week 5 of no pitching allowed until the 6 week mark. During recovery her coach has had her concentrating on footwork/drive and...
