I have been there and done that. It worked out for me just fine. I'm 5 and 15 years and 20 removed from that part of the game. I have come to the conclusion, coaches, and parents have lost their minds at younger ages. 8u, 10u, 12u, rec, 10u club, 12u club 14u club in pretty much all youth...
Just acknowledge you missed the call. A simple raise of the hand, or a nod of the head can calm the parents and the coaches (unless it was a game-altering call, then oh boy, haha). Maybe give a make-up call on the next strike? BUT THIS CAN BACKFIRE ALSO you called a ball a strike and strike a...
My 2024 has a "verbal commitment" to play for a Pac-12 college. During her "official visit", she did go through the admissions process to make sure she was academically eligible, but won't officially be registered until she signs in November of her Senior Year. The SAT/ACT is NOT required...
Coches are at a showcase or touniment to watch other players, so they split the time up. A couple of innings for this player, a couple for the player who may be playing on the other side of the snack bar. But I have seen college coaches watch entire games, knowing they were there to watch...
My daughter has both Twitter and Instagram accounts specifically for softball. About 25 coaches follow her on Twitter, maybe more, and maybe five max on Instagram. I think it's because Twitter is more geared toward adults, and Instagram is more geared toward teens and 20's.
I "manage" her...
Great write-up.
"I honestly really worry about how my generation will be on their own. I feel like people are very dependent on their parents now."
Wise young lady.
Congrats to your daughter, and to your family. Hard work pays off. I wish her great success.
I see a very lazy runner who hit a bomb, and an average catcher who doesn't control the infield. I see piss poor sportsmanship by the runner sliding into home and trying to knock the ball loose. Total and purposeful interference with the catcher. She purposely slides late and into the catcher...
I can respect that. I had a coach like that, I loved him.
And yes these are coaches who coached young men, At the college level, you had/have a choice if you wanted to play under that style of coaching.
I am not advocating this as a way to coach children. But IMO, kids these days are being...
Funny. I just watched that video yesterday. Bobby Night and Augie Garrido....greatest coaches ever., but I'm old, and in this day and age...they would be canceled.
Not sure why any "adult" would get so wound up about this stuff. It has zero effect on you or your daughter. Simply ignore it, skip over it, block it, or just log off. Seems it bugs some of you, but you must be at least "lurking" LMFAO. If it helps a player get seen, good for the player...
I have spoken to many college coaches about this. It's just the way it is now. Coaches are interested in seeing what you do on the field, as well as what you do on your own time to better yourself. Work out videos, game videos, training videos, highlights, and whatever else players think might...
Every high school has to have some form of bylaws that they must follow. If they don't, then the Boosters can be disbanded, broken up, and a new election will follow.
