    It’s not all about fastpitch

    Best to Tylie

It’s good to know what you want, I guess.

Very good points. And I gotta say I've cringed on behalf of friends when their team says "Looking for a catcher" and that friend is a catcher on that team. Ouch.

5 Simple Rules for Surviving High School Softball

It can be lots of fun, yes. It can (and should, IMHO) be less stressful and potentially more fun. A time to relax a bit, try new things, get to know other teammates, etc. And as a parent, it's fun to re-group with many of the families you first met in Rec ball. Also, for our particular...

    Rothrock's Grip

Will do. We're also battling a hip issue. Basically her hips get out of whack which makes her natural body movements result in her left hip rising as her stride legs extends. That sort of sets her body on a tilt that prevents top spin. As we work on keeping the hips level it certainly...

    Rothrock's Grip

Interesting... We noticed my DD has bullet spin on her fastball. Working hard with pitching coach to get it back to topspin. At some point I though my hands in the air.

5 Simple Rules for Surviving High School Softball

It's a tough one. My DD has been dreaming and planning (depending on her age) of playing Softball in High School with her friends. She would probably tolerate a lot of abuse to stick it out. Much more than I'd want her to.

Considering quitting? I know "sticking it out" is the usual right answer. I however, am a fan of quitting. Life is too short. Childhood is too short. F that noise, as the kids (used to) say. It sounds horrible. I'm sorry your DD is dealing with that.

    Yup. Awesome, thanks.

    Cost of college and scholarships

Yeah, East Coast school that perhaps doesn't care about their softball team as much as Oklahoma does. But really, seems like a scheduling issue that they could have easily avoided. It's like having your wedding on Masters weekend.

    Cost of college and scholarships

Grrrrrr... One of my DD's target schools just announced their Elite Prospect Camp date, and it's when many of the best players in the country are at PGF Nationals in Hunnington Beach. Boo!

    Mound improvements between innings.

Yup. I watch someone come out with just a broom and cringe.

    Mound improvements between innings.

We're headed up to some notoriously bad fields this weekend. Pitcher's mounds are horrible and one of our aces got hurt on these fields last year. Question: Can we have the pitchers stand on the very edge of the pitcher's plate? Anything we'd get in trouble for if we simply move so far over...

    POLL~ on this pitchers reaction

I miss when the girls had nick names on the back of their jerseys.

    Becoming a pitcher only?

Fine point. And it describes my DD well. She has the brain to run, but not the body. Oh, she'd love to be a 5-tool player but that's just not meant to be.

    Becoming a pitcher only?

Yup. If you are one of the top 9 hitters on your team, you'll most likely hit. But it gets hard to stay elite in pitching and hitting.

    I'm guessing she would.

    POLL- would you pay this?

I'm sure you're aware that hitting coaches mostly teach afternoons and evenings and thus can't get to High School games. And expecting them to travel hours to watch a few at bats at a travel tourney for just one of their kids? Really just not feasible but certainly is awesome if they do it. I...

    POLL- would you pay this?

My older DD had a coach who mandated that all girls do group lessons with the same hitting coach. My DD used a different hitting coach for private lessons and was leading the team offensively. My DD would go to the hour lessons and every time come back with "We worked on some weird drill for...

    POLL~ on this pitchers reaction

I'm relatively indifferent. It's a bit cocky for my taste, and part of me hopes she gets it back at her when she gets rocked.
