    I think every players need to be taught how to properly take a HBP. There are situations and pitch locations where you absolutely eat it. I would never coach my kids to just stand there while a 55+ mph balls comes in at their knees, ankle/feet, or head. But mid/upper zone (chest to thigh)...

    I agree with the last few comments here. There is a fine line between creating and fostering a positive environment and trying to micromanage the feelings and emotions of teenagers. These are not robots who always have to smile and be cheery, they are human beings with individual personalities...
