College and majors to stay away from??

She MAY play ball for four more years, she will have a career for another 40+. She should truly sit down and think about what she wants to do. I understand the desire to play college ball but I do not understand sacrificing a potential career field you love to do it. Bottom, she should take...

    Throwing Balls

I am having trouble understanding this. Is she getting hit quite a bit? You said the coach came out to talk after a strikeout. How does the coach know your daughter is not hitting locations? Is she standing behind the fence watching? Is the catcher telling her? Is she specifically talking about...

Dealing with Coaches as a Team Administrator

How would removing two rec coaches get you daughter blackballed? What power do two 10U rec coaches have in your town? You're not cutting anyone, you are giving them a choice. You are the org head, correct? It is your responsibility to these kids to stand firm in what you set the team up for...

Teaching Game Awareness and/or Game IQ

The question is "why is this?" How can they play so many games and practice as much as they do and still can't read a fly ball? My guess (and this may not apply to your daughters team but I'm sure it very much applies elsewhere) is that the ladies are not allowed to fail. The coaches do not...

Teaching Game Awareness and/or Game IQ

When it comes to game IQ and situational awareness in softball, I think it's opposite. They learn the most by experiencing the situation, either in a game or in practice. I think most people (especially young people) learn by doing, not watching. Most of the kids on my 14U team hardly watch any...

Not sure but I got my warranty replacement back yesterday for a 2020 Advanced I sent in and Easton sent me back a 2022. So yayyyy!

"natural arm movement of the player"

(I hope nobody takes this the wrong way, lol). First, there are VERY few people (instructors and former/current pitchers) I have met who use the term IR outside of this forum. They teach most of same mechanics but could differ in some ways (such as brush). I think it is very important that...

"natural arm movement of the player"

Is it required for her to attend these sessions?

    Pitching replant (crow hop)

You're wrong. And you are also wrong to come on here and post a video of a kid you don't know trying to call out her pitching style.

    How do you explain when...

How would you justify to the player/parent that you are going to take something they are currently very successful at and make them not as successful (maybe even just in the short term) in the name of "proper mechanics?" I get it, proper mechanics COULD (probably would) help the player out in...

    Question Regarding Injury

Wow. Honest question, what do the lights have to do with a ball taking a bad hop and hitting her in the face? Do you think this bad hop wouldn't of happened if she was in right field?

    Question Regarding Injury

He is saying that if she plays right field then she plays left field (e.g. not a real difference), it's not like the coach asked her to play catcher without a mask on.

POLL~To move or Get hit by pitches~

Somewhere along the line of the thread the discussion has morphed from "do you want your players trying to move out of the way of a pitch" to coaches "instructing players to lean into a pitch." There is absolutely a difference here. Never in my life would I tell a batter to intentionally...

POLL~To move or Get hit by pitches~

I certainly would not advocate for teaching to "create" a HBP (for some reason my first thought is Roger Dorn leaning into one, lol).

POLL~To move or Get hit by pitches~

I think every players need to be taught how to properly take a HBP. There are situations and pitch locations where you absolutely eat it. I would never coach my kids to just stand there while a 55+ mph balls comes in at their knees, ankle/feet, or head. But mid/upper zone (chest to thigh)...

    App for walkup songs?

Absolutely this. It really is a small concession that goes a long way in terms of enjoyment of the game and being loose/feeling good. I wish coaches/players would get over themselves sometimes and be in tune with the small things that keeps the kids happy during long days at the softball...

Struggling with IR - Return to HE?

I think this is more of a natural IR finish than a forced palm down. I am not sure why everyone is arguing with wheresmycar. IR is indeed a natural occurrence within the entirety of the pitch which is allowed to occur based on other mechanical factors (e.g. palm up at 9). IR is not a way to...

self-depreciating talk in the dugout / poor body language

I agree with the last few comments here. There is a fine line between creating and fostering a positive environment and trying to micromanage the feelings and emotions of teenagers. These are not robots who always have to smile and be cheery, they are human beings with individual personalities...
