Recently moved up to catch a very fast pitcher

My DD caught her 5th straight game for this pitcher last night. My DD is now wearing the padded glove under her mitt all the time now. She said the padded glove helped immediately but only around 25-50% better. After last night she said her hand is doing much better because she also thinks she...

Recently moved up to catch a very fast pitcher

I just got back with the padded glove and gave it to her to take to the game tonight. Her receiving technique is spot on and good. This pitcher is so fast and her movement is incredible that from time to time you are bound to catch it slightly less than perfect. She is aware of the finger shift...

No one has any gloves in stock or even the ability to ship for a week. This glove you referenced above appears to be in stock (4 of them) on the shelves at a Dick's nearby. I'm heading there now. Thanks.

Recently moved up to catch a very fast pitcher

She has always used the Mizuno Samurai Fastpitch catchers mitt with the built in thumb guard. She loves that mitt and is on her second one. Over the last 7 years (she is 15 years old) it has virtually saved her thumb from any pain or injury. FYI its a very well made mitt that has broken in very...

Great suggestion on the Palmgard. I didn't think of that. I'm going to do that right now as a stop gap.

Recently moved up to catch a very fast pitcher

My daughter was recently moved up to catch Varsity for her High School team. The main girl she is catching for throws 65-68mph and my daughters mitt is not thickly padded enough and her index finger and hand joints are taking a beating. I have heard that the Vinci catchers mitts are super thick...

Catchers: feet flat on ground or up on toes?k

Hi, I can tell you this topic just came up the other day. My daughter has been catching for over 3 years now (currently 12U) and going to the same coach the entire time. He is one of the most well respected catching coaches around our area and an amazing person/mentor and coach. He has taught...

Updating Catching Gear: I Have reviews on Helmets with specs.

Good luck with the Schutt helmet. We like it so far. It's funny, you never know what your daughter will like. She ended up choosing for her new gear (All matching Navy color)... All-Star Vela 14.5" Leg Guards Diamond ix5 16" Chest Protector Schutt Air Maxx Catchers Helmet

Updating Catching Gear: I Have reviews on Helmets with specs.

Yeah, the Schutt weighed just a bit more than the All-Star but it felt much heavier. It is clearly the "tank" out of the 3 helmets. The All-Star was very well balanced and very comfortable but just way too big in a large for my daughter. She said she really didn't notice or care how much the...

Updating Catching Gear: I Have reviews on Helmets with specs.

Hi all, Thought I could contribute some information...My DD has drastically outgrown her Diamond ix3 catchers gear and really needs larger stuff ASAP. Where we live there are really zero stores to try on equipment so I had two shipped to compare and will ship back what she does not like/fit. I...

How to use dual hinged vs single hinged catchers mitt

That is the wrap I am using at night, accept I have the "hot glove" version. I wrap it then spread that slit/opening around the pocket area on the outside of the glove to help shape and form it better around the ball inside.

How to use dual hinged vs single hinged catchers mitt

Its the Nokona L-V3250. 32.5" The Legend Pro. I've been slowing breaking it in for about 2 months now. Some pounding, little bit of Nokona conditioner and lots of flexing and just playing catch and wrapping it with a softball in the pocket every night. I think it is about 75% ready to go now...

How to use dual hinged vs single hinged catchers mitt

Thanks for the confirmation on the break points of the dual hinge. We have begun to break in both hinges (make them flexible equally) on the mitt. Since my daughter has spent the last 3 years catching (she is 12U now) with a single hinge, should I have her begin practicing on closing it using...

How to use dual hinged vs single hinged catchers mitt

Hi, Been reading for over a year now and thought I would post because I can't quite get an answer to a question I have. My daughter currently has a single hinged catchers mitt and we are currently breaking in a Nokona with a dual hinge design. With the dual hinge, should the glove be broken in...
