There is a school in our conference that is horrible every year. Many years they only have the V team, and from what I've heard, the coaches have to beg students to tryout (softball experience optional), just so they can fill a roster. This is in a conference where I'd guess the majority of...
Just my experience, but my one daughter loved multiple LXT's. We got the Meta when it first came out, and she never really liked it, and it did develop a rattle.
That's what I'm doing. My daughters softball came to an end last summer, and they went off to college. I had barely played golf the last decade (was good before life/family happened....lol). Went out last fall and got fitted and bought an entire new setup, and have played a bunch this spring...
As a group, posters here are likely more hard-core about attending games. My work schedule allowed it, so I went to every game my daughter played last year. However, for away games, I would guess about half of the team, maybe slightly less, had no parents at the games. It's just not practical...

Like this guy. Same recruiting class at Oregon as Justin Herbert. Checks notes.... Herbert just completed his 4th season in the NFL.
It's a horrible format, but yes, always choose to hit first.
We played a tournament last summer that had it (first time in 7 seasons) for pool games. We won 2 of our 3 pool games by scoring in the top half of the inning to take the lead, and then time ends before other team could bat. Even...
100% true.
Not even considering maintenance/age of the facilities, they vary a lot in what they are trying to accomplish.
There are 2 within 15 minutes of my house. The one has 2 full size fields with 210' fences. Can play real games, when it's snowing outside. The other is a nice facility...
It might be rare, but can't say "never seen it". Michigan's #1 pitcher is an engineering major. Pitched about 2/3 of their innings last year as a sophomore.
I appreciate that you put the effort into having accurate stats. I tried to do the same scoring our travel games.
However, the GC account for my daughters high school team is run by a player that isn't in the lineup that day. Often, after hit vs error, double vs single/advanced on error, wild...
I agree that the "all day" type schedules suck, but since it's a showcase, maybe it's to give all teams a chance to be seen, even if weather wipes out a portion of the day? All the coaches there, and your team draws the 8am/10am/noon schedule. Then it rains all afternoon, and the team with the...
It doesn't matter if the players hope to play at Oklahoma, or if high school ball is as far as they will play (for many, they won't even make it to high school ball). Keep things positive, and make it fun. Yes, there are skills they need to work at to improve, but it shouldn't feel like a job to...
We made the drive from Chicago to SW Florida many time as the kids were growing up. It was typically a 24 hour trip straight through, once you included stops for gas, food, etc. Definitely cheaper than 5 people flying, and rental car while there, but it still sucked.
As we've gotten older...
Have neighbors/coworkers that play, and most of my friends from growing up still play, just a little bit of drive to go see them.
I was a scratch player through mid 20's. Then job/kids/life took over. For the past few years I kept saying "this will be the year I start playing again", but never...
Similar situation for me. Last travel travel tournament was in June. Daughters off to college, and more time than I know what to do with.
My case was easier. I played a ton of golf growing up, but had barely played the last decade, and not at all the last 3 years. Decided to build a new setup...
As a coach, who was carrying a lot of gear, and occasionally an extra player or two (or three, or four...), hard to beat the minivan. Tons of space, and flexibility. Decent enough gas mileage. Our minivan got us through many softball events, camping trips, road trips.
Now that coaching is done...
Not sure how much you are trying to raise? Fundraising to pay all the expenses, or just to put a little extra in the budget?
We didn't do any real fundraising, but an easy one to make a little money for tournament fund is Super Bowl squares. Not hard to sell 100 squares. How much money you...
Typical conversation with some of the hockey families I know. Maybe slightly off, but not by much:
"Our 9u team had practice last night, so we headed over to the rink at 2am"
Not sports related, just how he wanted to do it, but my son's schedule this fall has no Monday or Friday classes. Think only a single studio class on Wednesday. He runs all over campus, all day long, on Tuesday/Thursday though....
One summer in high school i played in a golf tournament that Tiger was in. He didn’t have a very good first round, and was only a couple shots ahead of me. We’re pretty much the same…… 😂
(He won, i missed the cut)
