She's a smart kid. She probably gets too technical and doesn't let her natural athletic ability take over enough. We've watched several videos. All of the ones posted here several times. We'll keep working on it as long as it stays fun for her.
Going back thru this thread I wast watching the slow pitch swing five posted. Five is the slow pitch swing you showed just a modified or over exaggerated version of a fast pitch swing? Looking at the videos you posted it seems like its at the last point in the swing sequence where the player...
Update....she smacked a hard line drive yesterday during her game. It was one of the harder hits from her that I've seen in a while. Unfortunately her next hit was a slow grounder to short. I still see a lot of stepping forward early and swinging with arms only and not utilizing her lower body.
She seems to do a lot of things wrong. The more I try to analyze these hitters the more I see. Just not sure I have enough knowledge to correct her....OR if she'll even listen to me after having her spend 6 months with an instructor who didn't improve her at all.
OMG I just watched several videos on turning the barrel. My daughter does not do this at all. I don't know if it will help doing it this way but I'm willing to try it.
Very interesting stuff there. Cabrera destroying that apple was cool. So does the torque generated from initial hip rotation followed by proper positioning of the hands create the bat speed? My daughter is very analytical....do you think a tool that measures bat speed would be helpful for her...
To me it seems like she should be "wrapping the barrel" to get more of a unwinding a spring or corkscrew motion referring to your merry go round analogy. So the hands should be kept away from the body as she swings?
I can't believe you are able to post those together like that. I am obviously not computer savvy enough to accomplish that feat. Thank you for that. Her feedback to me is that she feels she is hitting the ball better during "indoor" batting practice. I have't seen anything yet as they are on...
Honestly she needs help with both. She has no power in either fast pitch or slow pitch. We just happen to be in slow pitch season and I didn't realize there were differences between a slow pitch swing and a fast swing. She is first off the bench in slow pitch but not even sniffing the field in...
Here are a couple new swing videos. I had her hitting off a tee so I could film her a little more up close. I tried working with her on her swing angle. She says it feels unnatural but she's trying. Do you all see any improvement?

Slow pitch for now. Once the season is over in about a month she will switch to fast pitch to get ready for fall ball. She plays fast pitch in the fall, then basketball, then slow pitch and repeat.
