USA, USA, USA!!! The ASA rebrand...

USSSA has their fingers in too many sports. As usual, the attention to fastpitch will eventually wane. It happened in the 90's, then the 2000's, and soon the late 2010's.

    Compression Protector Shirt

The Black Magic chest protector is fine as it does wrap around to protect the rib cage. It sounds like a freak incident. Picturing this in my head it I'm thinking your dd turned her body sideways to try to get to the spot. Just remind her that her shoulders should stay square with the...

    Compression Protector Shirt

What brand chest protector does she wear? When blocking, her arms should protect most of her rib cage. Did she turn her body to expose her rib cage? Wearing a compression protector could make her very hot in the summer.

    Tryouts: Lessons Learned

Different coaches are looking for different things. It is possible for a 14u catcher to have a pop time of 2.0 or lower, but it really doesn't mean anything if she can't duplicate it in a game, lets the ball get by her too often, makes throwing errors, can't manage a game, or can't manage the...

    Tryouts: Lessons Learned

Exactly right! There were a couple of teams that my dd did not go to until winter. When she was younger a couple of teams she was on dissolved. Instead of freaking out that she was not on a roster we took our time, worked by ourselves, and waited for fall ball to finish because there are...

    Tryouts: Lessons Learned

At the older ages....yes. Attempts to steal 3B are rare compared to catcher pickoff throws to 1B.

    Tryouts: Lessons Learned

Bunting and speed is a huge part of the fastpitch softball game and a lefty catcher is in a much better position to make the play at first base when fielding a bunt. Snap throws to first base for pick-offs (which is the base most occupied in a game) are actually easier for a lefty catcher...

    Help me decide!!

What would it hurt to try out with other teams?

    What do you use?

Yup. The blue and white ones. My dd's Igloo jug lasted over 4 years. It looks something like this: Igloo Sport 1/2 Gal Jug with Hooks - Walmart.com

What to do about old-school cues?

Why bother? Find a team with coaching that share your views.

    Action Pose

Did your dd make a successful throw to 1B for the out or did your dd peen it off the BR's head because she was well in fair territory, making it impossible to make a good throw to 1B?

PGF pulls all cf9's from tourney in CA

I would take a Demarini over an Easton Mako any day of the week.

    Getting the Axe

Coaches handle this in a few different ways. Some call, others email or text, and the rest avoid the parents like the plague.

    This is a long shot...

Ouch! When it rains, it pours! That is a horrible string of bad luck. I asked if she was playing 14u or 16u because my dd's old TB coach is coaching a 16u team up there. Your org made it possible for her Papa to see her play and that is awesome in itself so they get one big win in my book, a...

    This is a long shot...

Well #7sDad, you have to have a few games under the belt. How is it going? Are you playing 14u or 16u?

    catcher's mitt

That's disheartening. That means Wilson/LS will have a minimum one year gap without providing high-end catchers gear. That's how you lose market share. The LS gear is no comparison to the ProMotion gear.... The LXT mitt looks like the Xeno mitt with different lacing and embroidery. If the...

    catcher's mitt

That's what I heard. I was wondering if Excel2002 was going to give us a little more. I was trying to bait him.....lol. He know's more than he's letting on.......... My dd's college team is an LS school. Last year her gear and mitt were in her words "horrible". She did like her bat....it...

    catcher's mitt

Is that when they're coming out with the new gear too?

    Ump wouldn't allow a timeout.

If your foot's already on the bag, just dust yourself off. No reason to ask for a timeout. If your hand is on the bag, keep it there while placing a foot on the bag, stand straight up, and dust yourself off. No reason to call timeout. Do this and you never have to bother the umpire.

When To Tell HC We're Moving On?

You let the team know once you have secured a spot on the other team.
