Just a bad effort at humor. I agree and apologize, do not want to turn this political. I was playing off the quoted comment.
You're still not addressing the HLP pattern in your post. TM or Jeff Frye? Which is it? Shawn or Work = Wins?

We need answers.......no waffling.

Edit: if you don't spend an inordinate amount of time in the hitting forums, please disregard......

This is the first deal of this kind that I have heard of for softball players. Not sure if I am a fan of this or not but if I was a female softball player I would certainly be excited to make an additional $10,000 per year to play collegiate softball at Texas Tech. It will be interesting to see if this happens at other P5 softball schools.

Basically 27 Texas Tech softball players will be paid $10,000 per year for the name, image and likeness + participate in some community service projects.

I'm not necessarily excited about any amount... just the fact that athletes can benefit from their hard work. This is nice because these athletes are not having to go out and hunt for endorsements deals. Yes, the school probably has a "fee" to manage NIL contracts (Lawyers, managers), but that is part of the business world. NIL is not perfect and we'll continue to muddle through it. Better to struggle and find a way through than just saying 'no' because it's a challenging problem.

, and there is no violation of rules prohibiting influencing a student to attend or remain at a member school. (Rule 9)
A student may earn compensation from the use of their name, image and likeness (NIL) in compliance with Rule 5, and Rule 9 provided:

• The compensation is not contingent on specific athletic performance or achievement.
The compensation is not provided as an incentive to enroll or remain enrolled at a specific school.
• The compensation is not provided by the school or any person acting as an agent for the school.

Are these ^^^^^contradicting statements?

"No “marks” may be used, including but not limited to school logos, school name, school mascot, or any trademarked OSSAA logo or acronyms."

You might think they would want logos and such to be part of the advertisement but then someone would have to discern if "the engaging in certain commercial activities as an individual" are proper."

"No activities in conflict with a member school’s local school district policy may be endorsed. Examples include but are not limited to tobacco or alcohol products.
Who decides what else they would/could limit? I think they are opening a can of worms.
