So, I have been under the impression that the purpose for playing Fall ball, is to be seen at showcases and to get on coach’s radars. What then would be the purpose of a coach, loading up a team with already committed players and giving them playing time over the younger girls on an 18u team? Certainly it couldn’t be to win those games, is it?

Not sure. When dd played 18U, we always had a range of players from HS sophs to committed seniors on the team. If players emailed coaches and those college coaches came to watch, those players would take priority in the games.

Were there any college coaches there to look at those uncommitted players that weren't playing? Ya still gotta be competitive and put out a solid product. Those committed players bring out their coaches to watch too and other college coaches notice too. Are in direct conversation with your team's recruting coordinator? Do they know which schools your DD is interested in?

Are there actually any legit events going on right now? In Texas the fall season doesn't start for another couple of weeks. Let it play out, it's way too early in the season to get wrapped around the axle. DD got 50% of the innings at catcher her soph year on her 18U team. We had 17 players on the roster and the coach mixed up game by game, weekend by weekend.

My granddaughter is on a 16u team, where she gets playing time. She has friends on the 18u.

What do you mean by loading up? Were these players that are already committed playing with this coach previously to being committed?
What venues are on the schedule?

Pending the competition they are playing,
yes
the goal could be to win.

Being top-notch draws college attention to quality players...& the others on the roster.
Just because all the players may not be playing in one venue hopefully there will be other events scheduled on the venue where other players will get their opportunities.
Certain venues and against certain teams the goal 'for some' is to come out and be as competitive as possible even if it's a showcase event.

Most of the team are new to it this season. Yes, several are committed already, incl. a couple to D1. Fall season just started, so we’ll see. Just assumed the non-committed would see most of the playing time.

Consider that there are some teams playing travel where their entire roster is already committed.
( and/or nearly all)

imo it is good to have players that are already committed on the team because college coaches come to get a visual check up on the talent they've selected.

Playing time is a topic that should be clarified with the coach regardless of type of schedule.
Those are questions best asked When selecting teams and hopefully the coaches follow through with what they say. But things can change pending players they actually end up with.

We have two 18U’s, a National and a Regional. I’m assisting on the Regional team for Fall, was asked about helping on the National team also, no thanks!

The National team will have some serious extensive travel this Fall, our Regional is playing four local tournaments with one overnighter in Raleigh.

The majority of this team is committed, our goal is to get the remaining girls committed, and to just play and to be in tournament / playing form for their final year of HS ball. Some girls choose to play, some choose not to!

How do college coaches look upon players they have committed that decide to take time off? Vacation here, wedding there, or a little nagging injury, etc.
