I don't know the latest, but doesn't the bill limit the revenue sharing to athletes in revenue-producing sports? Which is football and basketball.
If I remember correctly, Softball was recognized as a revenue producing sport as of 2019 at the P5 Major D1 level; mostly thanks to the WCWS and the various conference sports channels such as the SEC channel.

High-level softball is a more fun to watch than high-level baseball. The games are faster in all respects. I enjoy watching MLB from time to time, but nothing really compares to the NCAA softball conference championships and playoffs.

Disagree, but I don't need an adrenaline rush every time I do something ;)

TBH I enjoy both equally, for different reasons.

I get a kick out of this type of stuff. In the recruiting process, there is that time frame where parents are hopeful that any college show interest in their player. Then, they begin to sort things out and are hopeful that the right college recruits their child. From there, they are so excited that their child signs a NLI. I can see down the road that the next phase will be parents/players asking how much money they can make. LOL I recall back in the day driving around the St. Louis area and being so excited that my dd photo was up on four billboards in the area. As parents, we were so proud that the university thought that she was a good representation of their university. I guess today we would be having the dd march in and say, "show me the money.":rolleyes::cool:

Building on Cannonball's comment, I feel bad for anybody who pursues sports for anything else than love of the game/love of their team. Sports isn't the same as a job you don't much like but can fake your way through the work day.

I hope so. Article I read referenced football & basketball, but how it plays out remains to be seen.

I love baseball, but I can't watch a college baseball game. Takes too long. It's worse than MLB because more runs are scored, lengthening the games to unbearable amounts of time. I much prefer a 7-inning game with limited pitching changes. There are other aspects of softball that make it more fun to watch, but just those two simple things are game changers compared to baseball and other college sports that have logistical issues.

The NLI stuff is coming. I am far from an expert but I foresee teams securing team NLI’s where every player gets a part of the pot of money.

And boosters getting involved… How do you avoid that… SHOULD that be avoided? Idk.

Can't say how it is for men's sports, but NIL for women's sports is part beauty contest as well. Just look at the Cavinder twins in basketball - not the best players by any means, but maybe the most successful at the NIL game.

Beauty contest maybe a real thing 🤷‍♀️
At least the Olympic teams have had a broad spectrum of Beauty on it. Wouldn't know if that's an example of what would happen in paid for college stuff tho.

Softball players will definitely have an opportunity to make money... how much is to be determined. And it won't just be the OU players cashing the checks.

As a coach if I have a player that has a marketable skill that might lead me to better recruits you bet I would encourage opportunities outside of the school setting.

Some schools are much harder to recruit for...
