Your daughter is beating the pitcher to her fyb position of leverage vs letting the pitcher dictate her position.

Her movement pattern allows her to beat the pitcher to her position for multiple pitches without compromising anything.

The whole "back elbow in front of hands= drag" is just an arbitrary thing made up by some guy on the internet. Quackery.

Alo does not have bat drag there.

#18 from florida does on that particular pitch(shes fooled and trying to hit the ball)

Best description of bat drag is "laying it down and swinging it around". Need to swing it down.

the back elbow being a bit forward is not bat drag. As long as the middle turns and the bat is in sync w that, there is no drag of the bat.
Not the elbow in and of itself...bat location is also part of the equation or term.

In all of the pros you posted saying they had bat drag the same as the amateur just because at a point in time their rear elbow was ahead of their hands momentarily is not necessarily bat drag.

Because it was only momentarily in the overall process, at the wrong time to call it that, and long before their bats were flat/horizontal behind them (barrel not on plane yet). Whereas in the amateur's swing (and all other amateur bat drag swings), her rear elbow is ahead of her hands when the bat is level, and planning to the ball.

From that laid back bat position with elbows leading...she's in a position to do nothing but drag the bat through the zone. Not saying that's her normal swing(s) - probably not - but per the vids presented, she is dragging the bat in them (ie. bat drag), while the pros presented for comparison are not.

EDIT: Since I saw TDS's post of the clip of your DD's swing after I posted the above, I think she's a perfect example of what I'm trying to explain.

While some might want to say she has bat drag because at some point in her swing her rear elbow gets in front of her hands/knob momentarily...

...but by the time she gets the bat/barrel level and on plane with the ball....

...she's recovered like the pro swings posted, and the hands/knob are once again in front of her rear elbow. Hence...no bat drag. 👍🏽

Great post, helps shed light. I may have been mistaken in some of my posts regarding the pro swings, but I agree with this 100%

Touche. Some guy on Internet thinks Spinning is bat drag 🙄 You can spin with or without bat drag.

Many people bat drag with the bat pointed up. The position of the bat head has nothing to do with loss of leverage, or, umm 'drag'.

I don't know who this is but, she had bat drag. She recovered somewhat. She lost early bat speed because of the bat drag.

The initial bat drag resulted in her hitting the ball further away than necessary - notice the biceps slightly extended from the torso, and ball contact well in front of the normal ball of front foot..

Without the initial bat drag, this swing would be greatly improved. Bat speed would be greater, and she would be able to make contact with authority deeper in the zone, thereby giving her HR power to RF,CF.

To me this looks like a camera angle issue. I don't think her elbow was in front of her hands in either picture. The top pic kind of looks like it but, I think, that is simply due to the angle of the camera in that shot. Trying to conceptualize 3 dimensions based on a 2-dimensional picture is difficult.

I think your view of bat drag directly contradicts your view of elbow slotting. You continually say that the hitter must slot the elbow before pushing the arms/hands away from the armpit. Thus the elbow must drop and move forward relative to the hands, which are locked at the armpit.

Then, you look at clips of hitters slotting the elbow - as you say they should - and call it drag, based on a camera angle that purportedly shows the elbow in front of the hands.
