So many trash "parents" coaching and label it "daddy ball". When in reality most parents are tougher on their own kid. SOME people like to use the "daddy ball" excuse for why their kid isn't playing or getting better etc etc etc.

This. A lot of parents choose to blame the dad coach for their own child's shortcomings. They hear the term "daddy ball" and don't really understand what it means but assume it must be the reason why their DD is batting last and playing outfield. It's certainly not because their DD has a horrible, self-entitled attitude, strikes out every time and never does what the coaches tell her to do. These kids/parents tend to jump around from team to team, never finding a permanent home.

I’ve said this here before, Anna started playing varsity in the 8th grade, started at SS with a team full of seniors. The coaching staff were two older brothers and one of the brothers son who is my age.

She played for them in the 8th & 9th grades, these two brothers had the best coaching reputation in the County…..as little league baseball coaches in 1975! Fastpitch…..no, not even close! Pitching machine gurus!

In my last (horrid) experience with daddy ball, one of the biggest issues was that the coach relied on personal connections to put the team together. It wasn’t just that he favored his own daughter (he did), but there was a group of 7-8 girls that he built the team around that played every inning of every game while the 4-5 girls he picked up from tryouts were left to rotate between two positions. The coaches all socialized together, so he wasn’t going to do anything to jeopardize those off-the-field relationships.

Ironically, the team blew up and took most of those relationships with it.

This is the coaching that drives me nuts.
