Ugh...more on the "when it rains...it pours" front.

I found out when I am going to be back in orthodontics. I'm going to be back in braces the day after Independence Day (which is also my birthday). I'm a bit solemn that I'll be sporting braces again as a college student. But it's my own dumbness that got me back into them.

I also had my computer go kaput on me. I was using it and all of a sudden, my screen went black on me and when I tried to restart it, it wouldn't boot up again. It's no shame for it as I've had it since my freshman year of high school. I got me a brand new MacBook Air as I figured it was the best choice since I am going to college instead of going back to PC. It also helps I'm using an iPhone 11 as well.

On the car front...I need some advice. My dad and uncle has been taking me out car shopping since my Jeep went the way of the Dodo. So far I've loved the test drives I've taken of the Kia Telluride as well as the Sorento, a Hummer H3, as well as a Mini Cooper (I really loved how responsive it was). I'm not necessarily sold on the H3. As much as I liked it, I'm not sure how practical it would be for me to have one. So I'm really bouncing around the Sorento, Telluride, and Mini. I'm not sure what would be best. What is you guys opinion on the matter?

Something I was listening to...and it got me thinking about my quadmates who are back home from college as well as a few of my teammmates. They got me into listening to some K-Pop. And I heard this one song from a group I have never heard of. Maybe some of your older daughters have gotten into them. I got into a group called Blackpink. This was my intro song...

I have it playing in my head. Damn earworms. lol.

Loved the Kia we had. Know 3 people with Tellurides that say that it's the best vehicle they have ever owned. Good luck and hang in there, hard to appreciate the sunshine if you don't have any rain.

Hey gabby, I'm in the car business, and I'll say that today's Kia's and Hyundai's are NOT what they were when they first started shipping them here from Korea! We're repairing a 2021 Palisade hit hard in the front, it's a super nice SUV! They've come a long way!

So I assume you're looking at used with the H3 and the Mini Cooper? Don't do it!! Just trust me, avoid those two headaches!

I look at you just like I look at Anna, a young female clocking a ton of miles in between home and college, it's ALL about reliability and fuel economy right now! You've got the rest of your life to buy and drive a cool car when you get out of school.

I bought Anna a 2018 Rav4 with 13,000 miles, it's been nothing short of fantastic, it was a great purchase! She loves it and it's been super reliable, I'd buy it again given the choice!

I just don't think you can go wrong with Toyota or Honda, I guess I could include Nissan (big 3 Japanese) but I'm just not a fan of Nissan vehicles!

Not sure how car inventory is where you're at? We're struggling to get cars, brand new and used, and it's definitely a sellers market right now.....for everything! In your situation, when you weigh out the cost of new vs. used, more times than not it's a better move financially to purchase new, especially with the warranties and free service agreements......and the stupid high prices of used vehicles!

In the business as well, very nice post. I really like Kia's and Hyundai's. But many brands are nice, just gotta take care of your cars. No
car will last if you dont keep up.

I Def agree with the H3 and Mini's....keep away!!! And I hate Nissan too.

But yeah, used car prices are insane right now...glad im not looking to buy. And hard to find new cars. Glad our GM doesnt listen
to accounting guys as I said months ago to stock up on used

Thank you so much for this. I didn't really have my heart set on getting an H3, anyway. I've heard getting parts for them is really hard and when you do find parts...they're really pricey. Plus, I don't know what gas prices are in your area of North Carolina, but I'm paying between $3.199 and $3.299. I don't need a vehicle that is going to cost me the better part of a hundred dollar bill to fill just to drive to school and back home twice a month or so plus errands. The mini I've heard is just as bad as far as parts. Although I love the look and the relatively decent fuel economy. Still, I don't like having to put in higher test gas in the thing to keep it running right.

We did go out looking at cars again today and I did take your advice and looked at a Rav4. I really liked it. I'm thinking about maybe jumping on it. I still really like the Telluride and Sorento, though. The one I'm looking at has that car play thing in it so I can sync my phone to listen to music.

I'm just not sure which to get but I'm closer to making a decision.

Thankfully, we have a good used car market where I live.

AD has found his perfect pair of boots!! Wolverine usually makes a great product, I've got a couple pair including some old steel toe workboots that are 30+ years old. Absolutely love the design, soles and the glove leather but probably wouldn't pay full retail ($400) for a pair of S__tkickers! ;-)

Great advice so far...only thing I might add is be prepared. College campus parking often equals door/bumper/etc dents and dings. Its gonna happen.

Triple score on reliability though (and safety of course.) If you do go used, consider a CPO...but like others have said used cars actually went up in price. Cant remember the last time that happened.

Good luck and dont sweat it too much. Looks like youve already narrowed it down to some solid choices (tossing aside the h3 and mini).
