Daughter has been swinging Demarini CFs for 10 years. Drop 10 for the last 8 years. Can't go wrong, unless there are too many swings on it. You can definitely tell when it's dead.

Depends on the schools SID(Sports Information Director). If the SID assigned to women's softball has other sports to cover, especially higher profile one's like basketball, etc...softball will usually suffer. I also think if the Head or Assistants can form a good relationship with the SID...
Since you are not local, I would look at the roster and see where the majority of the players are from. If their roster is local or relatively local, the coach will schedule practices as such. He may tell you it's ok to "make whatever practices you can make and we understand if you can't", but...
You have to keep your legacy pitcher parents happy with some pool play innings. Pool play is where you keep your bench player parents happy. But, I also remember as a coach telling myself that and then finding myself in the situation you describe. Tough to say "I'm not going to play my best...
