Whenever I tune into a game where Michelle Smith is one of the announcers, I always play an "over/under" game with myself...how long before she says "backdoor curve". I usually set it at 4 1/2 minutes, and the under usually wins.
That scenario from the case book leaves room for interpretation.
It says "...by either stepping out of the box or by putting a hand up", but then (c) talks specifically about stepping back into the box. What about the scenario where the batter puts a hand up but never steps out of the box (as...
The announcers were commenting on it at one point. I recall them saying something to the effect that she has been working with the new (?) Alabama pitching coach and this is one of the changes they had implemented. Makes it more difficult for batters to recognize grip if it's hidden in the glove...
Right, no distinction made between pitching styles (HE vs IR) in this study. In your daughter's case, I'd bet a combination of growth/physical maturity and skill development in her IR years vs HE years is a driver behind lack of back pain.
I'm about as far from a pitching expert as you can get...
There is most definitely life after softball.
My daughter started playing at 6 years old and played through college, so clearly it was a BIG part of her life. She graduated in 2021, playing her last competitive game a couple of weeks before graduation.
So far, "life after softball" is going...
Surprised that there has been zero discussion about this here. No doubt she has left an indelible mark on the game. She is certainly not without her detractors (nobody who does something this long ever escapes those), but the impact she has had on generations of UofM softballers is unquestioned.

Depending on the severity of the sprain, it can take several weeks to fully heal to the point where she can play without risk of further damage. That said, no one here is a doctor (or if they are they haven't examined your daughter's ankle), so best advice anyone can give here, other than...
So my eyes starting rolling as soon as I read "...and it ignited a fire storm in the parent group chat." but given the solid reputation of the OP am not just writing this off as a typical parental over-reaction. While some of those examples may be head-scratchers, it is very common and you can...
Since many of us DFPers come to the Rules section to review and either confirm our understanding or learn something new, I'd suggest not editing your post to remove the question once you get the answer. One of the best things about this site is the opportunity to learn...please don't take that...
Sorry, where did I say that? I am saying that yes there are plays where the scorer needs to apply judgement, and I like to assume that they are doing that within the confines of the rules. I am sure that there are some bad actors who score some plays in bad faith to the benefit of (or detriment...
There are a number of rules that I question, but by and large rules related to errors are pretty solid.
There will always be plays that are no-doubt errors, and of course always plays that are no-doubt hits. Given that, there will also always be plays that fall into a grey area that, yes, will...
