    Illegal pitch called

crouch is not required for a catcher. At least on a pitch out you will see them sometimes stand.

    Coach interference question

I'd use this rule to call the runner out: N. When members of the offensive team stand or collect around a base to which a runner is advancing, confusing the fielders and adding to the difficulty of making the play.

    NFHS- International Tiebreaker- runner question

probably going to go down a rabbit hole on this one, but there are plenty of reasons. 1) if the catcher is left on base at end of inning it will delay starting the next half inning, 2) the catcher is involved in every pitch, why not give other kids an opportunity to participate in the action, 3)...

    NFHS- International Tiebreaker- runner question

If the rules allowed it, why is it an issue. Some 8U tournaments I have seen lately require batting round robing (all players) and courtesy runners for pitcher and catcher of record. If its allowed by rule it is just part of the game.

    Tag up

That's different. When she contacts home plate on this dropped third strike she is not making an appeal. Touching home plate on a force situation even if the catcher doesn't realize she contacted home plate is still an out. Appeals are for missing a base, leaving a base too soon, batting out of...

    Tag up

You cant have an "accidental" appeal. The umpire must know you are trying to appeal (or double someone up who is off base or missed a base) but it doesn't have to be verbal. A SS taking a throw from an outfielder and running over to a base is a pretty obvious appeal. however, a player with ball...

    Tag up

You are describing a live ball appeal and both choices (tagging runner before she returns or tagging the base before she returns) are proper.

    We got it/kicked it ... fair/foul ... Out, yes?

Its not clear what rule set but if USA rules this could result in 2 outs. RS 33 says the following: "If interference occurs by the runner on a foul fly ball not caught but, in the umpire’s judgment, could have been caught with ordinary effort had interference not occurred, the runner is out and...

    Auburn Alabama game

Your original post says the batter "partially interfered". That's all that is necessary for an interference call. The catcher gets a clean shot to make the play and here she didn't because as you clearly state, she was "partially" interfered with. In college they treat this as a delayed dead...

    Infield fly rule

It is reversible. When the pop-up is near the line the umpire should delare, "infield fly if fair". if it does go foul it is just a foul ball. even if they did not add the "if fair" portion, if the ball ended up foul it negates the infield fly.

    Starting with 8 Players

depends if this tournament is going "by the book" or if there are local rules. Some local tournaments use modified rules and one rule I have seen often is no penalty for an injured player or even for a team playing shorthanded. I have also seen a 1 time penalty when the missing player misses...

    One I hadn't seen before

Ball hit on the followthrough is a dead ball strike. In USA Softball see Rue 7.4.I below and the effect. In this case since it was strike 3, batter out, end of inning. H. For each pitched ball swung at and missed which touches any part of the batter. I. If a pitched ball is swung at, missed...

    Pitching replant (crow hop)

No not at all. Pitcher can drag or leap away from the pitcher's plate but what I see is after her pivot foot lands, looks to me like she pushed off again.

    Pitching replant (crow hop)

you are right so far, that at the start of the pitch she is legal. but by the time she gets here (see image below) she is far (about 3 feet far!) from legal.

    Pitching replant (crow hop)

I'd like it to be where the rule book says it must be. The USA book is pretty clear, you push from the pitcher's plate and in this picture, she clearly is pushing from somewhere else. For those who think its a weak 2nd push, the book does not differentiate between a strong or weak illegal move...
