looks like something is wrong inside her elbow that prevents forearm pronation OR in her shoulder that prevents humeral internal rotation. Sounds like an orthopedic/ PT exam is in order not a Pitching evaluation. There was an injury event
per many of the above "lost arm whip" is the causal symptom. Issue is why she lost the arm whip? its a bit hard to see but in the Recent video her hip angle to the power line at foot plant is 90 degrees. In the Old her hip angle is like 70 - so a little bit closed. This hip angle helps...
A bit of diversion from this thread, but I have to ask. Bill you have a brother traveling the rounds giving clinics? I was told of a HIllhouse ( eric??) ran a clinic for a local travel organization and all the emphasis was on.. dont shoot please,... finishing high with elbow up...
My understanding of the rules ( changed a few years ago for safety) is that the catcher must leave a path to the plate UNTIL AFTER she in receipt of the ball. Thus if a catcher sets upstraddling Home on top of the plate she is illegally blocking - even if the runner and the ball are bang bang...
Harvey mudd in clarmont Ca I think has engineering. Wash U in St louis does. Case Western IN Ohio does. MIT does. University of Rochester NY, does. I believe Carnegie mellon restarted their softball. I believe there are number of the Univ - Wisconson smaller schools that have...
Couple of things and reacting to the comments. first its a lot harder to throw a drop for a strike at 5-4 than it is at 6-0. the taller you are the easier it is to "get your 6" of drop" and keep the ball in the strike zone but still moving down. That said "bite" is really a question of...
Find the schools ( all levels) that offer her major, That have a softball team, that fit her grades, you can afford, that are in the type of place she wants ( city/rural, near far). Basically pick the list of 7-10 schools she would apply to for her long term future. Then start contacting...
How about make a called strike = 2 strikes. A lot of young players learn very quick they can just stand there and statistically get on base. One good called strike and now the pressure is on the batter, anything close you got to swing.
Exams during tournaments are pretty common. You make it to the post season and typically the coaches are proctoring exams for 3 -5 players during off times. Not easy for sure. But who said playing in college was easy, lol. DD would take exams "on the bus to competitions".
One parent of a pitcher asked me after the game ( irritated of course) "why are you calling her rise ball so much ". I showed them the pitch call chart I use.... drop drop fast drop fast drop drop - ---- no rises. Maybe I should have called the rise to get it in at the knees...
Way back in the olden times when DD was 9 I made her a target zone with a gymnastics pad and some walls to catch any errant pitches - down in the basement. Used real balls, no socks for her. Broke every light in the entire basement! Regardless of location. I swear she could throw a pitch...
The NCAA tests all models that show up at the annual tournaments ( top 64 d1,2,3). Each bat is tested on a machine. If it fails it is confiscated for that tournament and the MODEL is issued a strike. Once 3 strikes are accumulated the bat is banned. So a great number of older POPULAR...
looking to buy used machine for lite flites. Jugs lite flite machine works great but hard to find used. Seen Atec Power streak. Anyone can verify it works with 12" lite flite balls ( i have a lot of them, hate to buy more) ? thanks
If you want to throw hard you need whip, elbow whip, or I/r, or the more complex anatomic description from BoardMemeber. So you want to throw slow, get rid of the whip. Almost every variation of the change ( and there are a lot that are taught) translate into something where the pitcher...
You have to learn to throw hard all the time in order to perfect your game mechanics. Injury usually comes from (1) overuse or (2) weakness in key muscles. If your DD throws hard it is important to make sure she is doing a good routine of preventative strength exercises to make sure she...
