    Questions about "playing up"

I think it's good to have a system like that.. however I still just find the whole playing up thing silly.. why can't all the kids just play in the correct age group?? Otherwise, it creates issues like in our league where any entire grade of girls now wants to move up. I played many travel...

    Questions about "playing up"

Good for your daughter!! She definitely has attention issues but not enough at school that it warrants getting a diagnosis for now. I don't know if softball isn't for her and maybe she's enjoy something else more and then she's focus more. She does say she loves it.

    Questions about "playing up"

Thank you! I am totally willing to play with her.. even in the winter to get her ready. She on the other hand needs some convincing to practice and yet still think she should just "get to" move up.

    Questions about "playing up"

She definitely is. She loves being part of a team.. and has made some good friends in her grade at softball. So it's a bit sad that she wouldn't be with those girls.. but yes we could invite them over. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

    Questions about "playing up"

Yes! This makes sense to me. 1 kid out of 60 being so good they play up. An entire grade of kids "needing to be challenged".. no. It's frustrating because what will end up happening is my daughter, who is actually in the right division, is the one feeling left out. I don't get it. And try...

    Questions about "playing up"

How common is it in softball leagues for kids to play up? I ask because in our league it seems like the coaches' kids tend to placed up a level and then the other families feel like they need to "keep up" with those certain kids. IMO, a *few* kids truly are amazing at softball (not necessarily...

    Questions about "playing up"

I love that idea! Do you have her catch with the glove hand? Or just a two hand catch? Thanks. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

    Questions about "playing up"

That is really good to know!!! The games at 8U can already be kind of slow-moving.. one highlight is that each girl gets like 3 or 4 chances to bat every time.. so it's something to look forward to (your child batting) when watching. I can't imagine only one at bat in an entire game! I will tell...

    Questions about "playing up"

Oh gosh, that does not sound fun. Lol. We also are concerned because she often doesn't always know what to do with the softball when she gets it in a game.. like it just seems to come easier to some kids. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

    Questions about "playing up"

She is a bit below her friends..but I also think it has more to do with confidence than they are *that* much better. She gets nervous! I also offer to play catch with her all the time! I love sports and being active, she usually doesn't want to. She is a bit afraid of getting hit with the ball...

    Questions about "playing up"

No.. she can't do any of those things. She's afraid to catch the ball still and she can't make a throw from 2nd to 1st.. she does try though. Hitting is her best thing and she usually gets a hit every time she's at bat that usually rolls in the infield. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

    Questions about "playing up"

Thank you! That is a different perspective to consider! She is probably most disappointed to be playing with girls as young as kindergarten because their parents are once again.. "playing them up" an age group. It's just rec league and I don't get why the need to push them.. it's supposed to be...
