Move up in length and weight...or just only one?

10u, contact type hitter has been using a 29/17 lxt for a season plus. I'd like to get her away from the -12 but not sure if I should just look for a 29/18 or 30/19.

I wish there was some place close to us to try bats but no such luck.

Some good deals on used right now, maybe because of the holidays approaching.

Try and get her to a drop 10 ASAP. I'd go for a 29/19 if the swing mechanics are good and she's strong enough to handle a 2 ounce jump.
I have heard this given as advice a lot. My DD has a 30/19 and a 30/20 identical make and model and she hits the ball much better/harder/further with the 30/19. I have. been wanting to get her to the 30/20 but she doesn’t hit it as well.

I think that advice is often given with durability in mind. The higher drops seem to crack easier when a kid starts to hit the ball pretty hard. Marcela cracked 3 drop 11’s and hasn’t cracked one since she moved to a drop 10 (knock on wood..) Of course that could be due to a) making better contact as she got older but all three cracked on the barrel and b) different brand of bat c) we started keeping our BP balls in the house in the winter

DD has a 32 -9 ghost and a 33 -10 ghost. So same weight. She swears 33 -10 is too big??? She uses against slow pitching only. I think part of it is mental.

Nice feedback! What brand is the drop 10 she moved to?

Thanks for all of the replies. I'm leaning towards same length but move up to drop-11. Moving up 2 oz seems questionable for her at this point as she continues to work on just having a fundamentally sound swing. Not looking to spend more than 125-150 so not the end of the world if she needs to move up again in the fall.

So, here's the advice I was given by HOF coach Bill Edwards on how to choose the size of a bat. He is a firm believer that practicing a check swing is the right approach to use. Here's what he suggests:

Have your daughter load up her swing as if she's going to take a full swing, and then have her check her swing. If she can't stop the barrel from going through the zone in time to prevent an umpire calling a swing, the bat is too heavy. If she can stop it in time, she can handle that weight.

I tried this with both my daughters, and it worked well, regardless of whether it was a -9 or -10. Maybe it will help you too.
