I would think the coach imagines the freshman to push the older girls and fight for spots. I spoke to a coach a few years back concerning a freshman player, asking how she was doing. He said he had hoped that this player would have earned a starting spot and was disappointed she didn't.

She actually did ask both coaches and they both have graduating players at her position and both have said that they expect her to earn that spot as a freshman…she has to earn it but it’s why they’re recruiting her. Now that’s recruiting speak of course but she did ask.

Iron sharpens iron or at least that is what the 10000 Social media posts I have seen over the last year mentioning it say..

It is practically Biblical. Proverbs 27:17 proclaims: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”.
ok...Doesn't mean I don't want this to happen to the author every time I read it:

"May the Lord strike you with Egyptian boils and with tumors, scabs and itch for which you will find no cure."

Well it’s official! My girls has accepted an offer from the University of KY. Go cats! So beyond proud of her. Going to enjoy the moment for a minute then back to the grind.

That's fantastic! Good luck to her. I hope it's a great experience.

In some ways I think she’s afraid to believe she’s good enough.
Moot point now, but sounds like Dunning-Kruger effect (at least I think that is what it is called). In my view it is better to underestimate your ability than to overestimate it. YMMV.

Congrats to your daughter and UK. That seems like a solid school.
