Both lol and I get it that you were both being sarcastic. She’s been very blessed with solid choices and look forward to making a decision after her last visit this weekend. She was offered other visits but unless she has a change of heart she will likely cancel those as she currently feels her future lies at one of these first 3. It’s obviously hard to really know a program in the short time they have at visits but she’s attended camps at these 3 since 7th grade so she’s pretty comfortable with her impressions. All 3 programs have had very stable staff over those years. All the coaches have recently renewed contracts. She has friends in all 3 programs already and she feels they’re being pretty honest with her about the things they like and don’t like. None of the 3 currently have heavy use of the transfer portal and all 3 have a player graduating at her preferred position although once she reaches this level she is ready and willing to compete for any position to be on the field. Academically all 3 are solid for her current plans but we realize that plans change and they’re solid in many academic areas if she changes her mind. None are at home , none are too far either. Financially all of her offers are reasonable for us a family….not exactly the same but similar enough. I think we’ve done the work as a family to try to help her make as informed a decision as she can.

Kiddo had her first visit this weekend. It was very fun! Received a pretty solid offer but really wants to complete visits at her top 3 choices before making a decision. Have them scheduled the next 2 weekends. Such a fun and exhausting process so far.

Ain't that the truth. We are in a similar spot. DD is headed on a visit this weekend, another right on its heels, and a couple more in a couple weeks. She has a couple good offers and expects more with these next two visits. Too tough to choose so far!

Good luck to your DD!

Another visit this weekend and she has decided she is done. Very comfortable with these choices and is going to politely cease communion and cancel her remaining visits. She is however extremely torn between her top 2 choices. In some ways I think she’s afraid to believe she’s good enough. Everyone kept telling us to enjoy the process and while it’s definitely been fun at times it’s also been emotional and heart wrenching.

This right here. This really isn't directed at OP, more so generalities.

If she is concerned with her abilities, I would be a little concerned. It could also be a case of Imposter's Syndrome. Kids will have self doubts, so do adults. BUT if she falls in the bottom half of the roster, she might be chasing foul balls the first year. Take a look at the team stats. Does the coach do a good job of getting all the players on the field and AB's? Or do they focus on the top 12 players?

Getting 35 AB's as a freshman non starter would be good. If you see a bunch of players with 5 AB's, and 12 Pinch Running opportunities...

With huge rosters, there's is a finite amount of playing time available. DD's roster has gone from 18 her freshman year to 31 this year. I have a feeling some players will be flushing out. One freshman kid hasn't even stepped on the field for ANY of the captain's practices.

If my kid played for Stanford I wouldn’t care if she played a single inning in 4 years if it didn’t bother her..but I am an elitist narcissistic sociopath (did I miss anything..?) so..(and there is no chance in hell she would ever get a look from Stanford so this just a thought experiment)

I would be proud to just to be able to wear the T-shirt.

My DD told me that it would be very hard for her to put in all the work and not be able to significantly contribute. She also said, if she would have gone to any of the D1 schools that she was considering, she feels as though she would have quit based on other player's experiences. Of the 9 from her TB Sr graduating class, she is one of 2 still playing. It REALLY is a significant accomplishment to make it 4 years in ANY college sport.

DD will have had 4 Head Coaches to work with from the time of her verbal. Make sure the college is the right fit academically. If DD wasn't playing softball, she would have gone to UT-Austin and probably flunked out b/c of 6th Street!
