Some good stuff in here all the way around, props to you and Rad for working together to get better! I'm curious about the college coaches (both Head and the Catching Coach) at your school. You mention in your first post that they made the suggestion to try the one knee down stance, did they provide further instruction surrounding the technique or was it all up to you (and Turbo) to figure out the nuances?

Keep working and good luck this season!

Thank you so much for this @Tatonka. I did put a bunch of good stuff in there telling about how I learned one knee down. My new college coaches did try to work with me while I was trying to learn using one knee down. They tried to explain as best as they could...but their instruction wasn't the clearest...at least not for me, anyway. Consulting with Rad, she made it a whole lot clearer. Plus with video, I could see that backed up what she was saying made it easier for me to wrap my mind around what had been explained and what was supposed to be going on. I will be using her methods to better my framing.

There was an interesting conversation the other night during the Yankee game between David Cone, Paul O'Neill, and Michael Kay about this topic. None of them were in favor of it for MLB catchers. Admittedly, they all said they were old-school in their thinking, so take that for what it is worth.

As Cone was a pitcher with wicked breaking stuff, his argument was there would be too many passed balls or wild pitches in the dirt that could not be blocked in that position. He also felt it would be harder to control the running game from your knees unless you had a cannon for an arm.

Oddly enough, my daughter, who catches, uses that position a lot except when runners are on base. She swears by it.

Thanks for the bump RAD.
✔️
Does anything change with runners on base as far as going down on one knee?

When you ask me does anything change with Runners on base?
my answer is
~ the opportunity to get more outs!

*Be as ready as possible to be a solid defensive player.

I absolutely prefer and encourage using two strong legs to be an explosive mobile defensive catcher. To utilize range to control the ball to
Throw Runners Out!

It doesn't change a thing for my DD. She uses one knee down almost exclusively. She's a blocking machine, hasn't changed that one bit.
Does she throw to 2nd from the knees or get up to throw? Also, is she careful to not go down on the knee until the ball has been thrown?

Add as a notation 🙂
It would be part of throwing Mechanics for a catcher~
Who is using a two-legged Crouch
if they were throwing from their knee
( singular one knee) they could receive the pitch and drive forward on one knee.
In a simultaneous mechanic.
Receiving pitch into throw.
That in some perspective may be considered receiving a pitch knee down. However it's really part of a throwing mechanism. It does happen though that a catcher might do that, to go into a throw, and hold their throw. And can see that knee down.

Separate notation 🙂
Throwing from knees (plural)
would be if either style of catchers Crouch catcher dropped to both knees and then was driving into the throw with one knee forward.
