A long time ago...figuring out sizes, preferences and skipping the pre-packaged gear sets...

Also a looong time ago at a Packaged Deal camp when they came to town. (Her twin was over working with Amanda Scarborough). A couple years later she went to Jen's Catching Camp also and in true Beast fashion soaked it all up!

Popped up on memories today. 1st year 10u playing on the 10u B All Star team. She was one of the teams 3 main pitchers. 2nd game C1 had a finger broken on a slide into home. Our C2 wasn't quite ready for tournament play, so my DD was told to gear up in her tools of ignorance. Was the C1 for 3 weekends until the C1 was off the DL.

Putting what she learned the previous summer from Jay Weaver at the NECC to work with runners on.

This photo was taken one week after she lost one of her best friends and catching mentor. The girl was killed in a car accident on her way up to senior athletic awards night at our high school when someone ran a red light and plowed into the car she was riding in. The girl died a few days later and saved the lives of five other people with her organ donations. My daughter used her death to channel her fire towards excelling in softball and dedicated her Girl Scout Gold Award to her memory.

This was the toughest day she ever had to play on the field. She's smiling, but she's holding back the tears. We will never forget you, Mel. MM26.

Sorry to hear about your daughter's loss. It pains us greatly as parents when our DD's have to deal with tragedy like this, but I think in the long run it makes them stronger and more resilient for life.
