I need to talk to the manager please! The All Conference Awards were announced this week for DD's Conference and it ignited a fire storm in the parent group chat. Needless to say we were surprised at some of the selections. It was very biased to the top teams as were the weekly hitter/pitcher awards. You would think if a kid is 2nd in HR's and 4th in RBI's, was batting .427, single digit K's, High Slugging and OBP when the voting took place she would be an automatic 1st team selection. Nope. 2nd Team. Team MVP too. One of the selections only had 72 AB's while the rest were over 100, .444, 0 HR's and only 2 Dbls, she shouldn't even qualify since she didn't play full time. A player on another team had an awesome year as well, and I truly thought 1st team all the way. Nope 2nd team. One of our pitchers went 8-2 and didn't even get Honorable Mention. One of our OF's had 5 Hr's, 27 RBI's and batted .331--3rd team. Meanwhile an OF with only 3 HR's, 16 Rbi's, .333 gets 1st team!!! These are legit stats not Max Prep HS stats. Do these people think we are stupid? Very disappointing and Pathetic. Do better ASC Conference!!!
A lot of things can factor into these AC teams, but a few things. First, you need to compare apples to apples. In a cursory look at the conference leaders and the awards, the first example you gave as a less than deserving award winner was in a utility spot. You'd expect the lower at bats, as they are in a UT role not a starting 3B. Look at the second team UT slot - same thing. It's like they wouldn't make a full time starter the 6th man of the year in the NBA.
Without looking closely at the other examples, I'd add that they'd also take fielding into the equation - especially for OF and C. So the OF comparison where DDs teammate might have a statistically edge, wouldn't take into consideration if the other player might be an eraser in the field.
Lastly - record does play a role. If your are the 4th or 5th best player on a team that is 41-6, they shouldn't get penalized because their team is strong.
Just a few things to consider.

Was happy to see the pitcher I was referring to in my response made NFCA 1st Team All-Region. It was interesting to see the flip-flop between the NFCA All-Region Teams and All-Conference teams among several players.

Something that I thought of but didn't think it was a deal. NFCA posted on FB for coaches to submit their All region selections. 1st question: Do you have to be paid member of the NFCA to submit? 2nd: Did DD's coach submit names?

It looks like NFCA member coaches nominate their players and then are voted on by the coaches in their region, and then selected by the All-American committee members (per their web site). I saw all but 2 conference teams represented from our conference in the NFCA. Those 2 schools did have 3 players combined on the 2nd team All-Conference list. Some other All-Conference players did not make the NFCA list and vice versa.

ETA: So I am not sure if those 2 schools in our conference were able to submit or not.

I saw only 3 teams represented from our conference. That is why I had those two questions and my Green player vs the Red player comparison. The Red player was picked for 3rd Team and the Green player was not picked at all. That is just one example.

I found another. The first player was picked 1st Team and the 2nd player was not picked. The 2nd player is a stud.

Did the coach not submit her? If so, it would be a slam dunk. Dontcha think?

Yeah. It’s very strange. Apparently it also looks like players who make their Conference POY or Pitcher of the Year automatically make it to the NFCA team I think? Maybe they mean the All-American vs All- Region team?

I would also think more coaches than not belong to the NFCA - but again, not sure. I was thinking that NFCA was maybe more stat-based but if you look at your examples they are not. I guess maybe those coaches are non-members then?

The thing that confuses me most is that in our conference, the pitcher who I referred to was put on 1st team NFCA and one of the All-Conference 1st team pitchers was moved down to 2nd or 3rd team (can’t remember). That’s why I was thinking it may have been more stats-driven.

Another interesting tidbit - the player from our team who made an All-Conference team did not make an NFCA team; however, two players from our team who did not make the All-Conference team did make an NFCA team.

Doesn't make sense does it? I think I'll email the asst coach on DD's team and ask if they submitted any players. I have a good relationship with her so it won't be weird.
