My DD hit her hip and now has pain pitching due to the arm brushing against the bruise. Any padding type solutions to help with the pain? Just trying to get through the end of the month.

Cape Cod Mass.
For something like this if you know what part of the arm is causing the contact you can try putting a neoprene pad on it. I think that a wrap would be more useful because if putting it on the forearm doesn't help you can try wrapping the upper part of arm to increase the distance between the tripceps and the rib cage which might move the arm further away from the body lightening the contact.

Ummm, why not fix the problem instead? All pitchers will hit their hip at some point, landing awkward or just a lazy motion can make this happen. But I'd recommend fixing the cause of the problem instead of giving her a pad and allowing her to keep doing it. If she's hitting herself that hard (which happens to a lot of pitchers) then there's something wrong that needs to be addressed. That problem can lead to other problems. Not sure I'd agree with putting a pad there and allowing her to keep doing it. Your pitching coach should be able to diagnose this problem in 10 seconds and provide ways to fix the core issue.

I don't think she's necessary hitting the hip anymore. It was something that happened two weeks ago. But since then, she's brushing against it consistently irritating it. You can see the discomfort in the 1st pitch in this video, but it doesn't look like she hit her hip to me.

Take this opportunity to encourage her to get her hips under her more and closed ahead of her shoulder. You'll hopefully find that if you are back chaining it properly the soft part of the forearm will contact the soft part of the hip (butt) and won't bruise. The bruise may have come from slamming into the bony part of the hip on accident. Probably tying to muscle up and closing the shoulder ahead of the hip. Start at 9, and go all the way back making sure the brush isn't on the bone. Use a padded sleeve until the bruise heals - she might come to like it too.

Where her left foot is landing varies from pitch to pitch. Is this by design?

From what I can see, she’s still hitting it. Video from directly behind would confirm it, but I think I see her releasing too far from the thigh. It seems counterintuitive, but I think tucking the elbow farther behind the hipbone and brushing the majority of forearm will result in immediate relief.

She threw over 150 pitches this weekend and was fine, so looks like it has finally healed. Just took awhile. Thanks for the suggestions.

I think she’s good, but I actually did get some video from behind today.
