What team batting average should it take to win?
If a top teams worst hitter is .300 will that do it?
(Thats better than the olympic teams team average)

Hard to compare creating a line up with
half.180 & half .380 on it.

yes, but those great teams also have pretty good hitters 1-9, they are much less likely to repeatedly have half innings be done after the same 3 or 4 batters. that makes a difference.

coaching mid level TB sometimes needs differeent strategies than high level P5 college ball.
the fewer good hitters you have, the more imperative it is to have the best hitters have the most AB’s.

differing philosphies, guess it stems back to my rec coach pitch days of batting a roster of 15. if I put all the weaker hitters at the bottom, might go 2 or 3 inning without BR, let alone runs. I absolutely hate "wasted" half innings. getting at least one BR puts a little more pressure on P, C and rest of defense than empty bases.

If you sandwich a good hitter in the middle of your weak hitters then they more than likely will still be on base at the end of the inning.

That is a good distinction, for sure.

I'm certainly no genius coach, but in my coaching career anything that reduced the ABs of the best hitters didn't work as well. I'm sure others have had good luck with other systems.

I am with Uncdrew on this.

Taking home runs out of the equation, to score runs you have to string together hits, walks and errors. Get those hitter the most at bats. Splitting up the hitters that get on base and consistently hit the ball hard (causing errors) is not going to somehow score more runs for you.

Having a good batter get less at bats every game isn't really a good way to play the game.
Having your best batters get fewer bats because you can't make through the order to get to them more times doesn't work for me. Sure, this a specific little strategy but every time a sure third out #9 hitter gets up and makes that third out, your top batters are seeing less chances. Just the way I think. :)

The only thing batting good hitters last is going to do is lower your team batting average.

This does not make any sense. So you are saying put the sure out earlier in the order? And that somehow gets the sure out fewer times at the plate? Or somehow gets the top of the order more at bats?
