Yep. I was referring to the OPs question about his DDs natural mechanics, not Cat Osterman.

But to answer your question:

Michael Jordan’s height and 45” vertical leap are natural advantages.

Greg Louganis has 77% more fast twitch muscle than the average person.

Michael Phelps has a 6’7” wingspan, the torso of a man 4 inches taller, and the legs of a man 8 inches shorter.

Like these other elite athletes, Cat Osterman has a natural ability that others don’t have. In her case she can spin a softball unlike others. Not sure what to attribute it to (Long fingers? Manual dexterity?). But whatever it is she has more of it than anyone else, ever.

Yes, Cat has extremely big hands which have helped. And as good as she is, I believe she could've thrown considerably harder is he loaded her legs a little more. But, hey, she did ok without it. LOL. The other advantage Cat had over others is, she didn't have to relearn how to pitch. At young ages she was not taught H/E mechanics so, when she got to Bobby Smith (the guy she credits with teaching her how to actually pitch, not just mechanics. But pitch and spin) he didn't have to go backwards in order to go forwards with her. That is huge! Bobby was a world class pitcher himself and still pitches today in the over 60 divisions. So not starting with the H/E mechanics meant she had a pretty seamless transition to learning how to make pitches move. I cannot emphasis enough how important that was for her.

Knowing Cat like I do, I think she'd have been good at anything if she wanted. Especially anything requiring dexterity. Maybe her hands/fingers would've made her the next Mozart if she wanted. Her work ethic was better than most.

She was also over 6" tall..that helps and cannot be taught. Some people have a genetic advantage..that's life.

On average pitchers are the tallest players on the field at the highest level..I guess that is one huge coincidence..

Where did I say that? I said it would be an advantage in pitching..pitching isn't a decathlon.
