I would work on the legs. To me it looks like the legs are pushing instead of turning. This could be the reason for the lead leg not posting up. I would also teach her how to use the front arm as well.

JMO but if she can clean up her legs I believe things will fall into place better. The front arm usage will have to be a conscience thought until trained though.

So based on everyone’s comments we need to work on everything (and I don’t disagree with any of the comments..I see all of these things as well )..I am having flashbacks. I think I may just have her work on her jumpshot..😂

We'll keep working a few of the Wasserman drills along with long toss and see how it goes. Like I said, we've never done any sort of throwing work other than just playing catch. I don't want to get in her head too much lest she turn into Chuck Knoblauch..

I'll also see if I can get some video of her throwing in the IF...

IMO, Pattar, she is close. If you purchased the Wasserman stuff, send this clip to him he's a good guy and will give you some suggestions I bet. She is surface-close but as you describe she isn't REALLY creating resistance and lag and at the most critical point her engine just sort of dies and her arm pushes past her lower body and you get the half-finish you see in the clip.

There are several ways for her to feel the resistance and lag. Have her slow-mo the motion with a towel and when she drops it behind her head (as she should) grab the towel and let her feel her lower body continue to rotate while her upper resists (due to you pulling the towel). This one is harder to explain but have her go through the motion with a bat in her hand (grip it like a hammer and at the start point the barrel down toward the ground). Go through breakaway/takeaway (carefully!) and when she gets to separation the bat barrel should drop behind her head and the weight of the bat will help her feel the resistance she needs to create.

Right..same problem she has had with hitting.
Better to recognize that then pretend the look = the feel. Too much of that going around these days. Anyway, good luck to her with the amount of work she puts in, her athleticism and growth trajectory she's due to make some natural leaps soon. Work doesn't always pay off on day 1 but consistent work on the right stuff does pay off over time.

Do the Bonds Hitting Drill but with throwing. Bounce balls 5 feet in front of her and slowly move the target back

Cape Cod Mass.
I think that the camera angle is camouflaging a lot, a view from the back would help. What I see is a posture problem. If you look at her shoulders before release they are reasonably level. But as she comes into release the left shoulder goes down, right shoulder up, which means that her spine has tilted to the left, so her head/weight goes left of center, to keep her balance and not fall over she leaves her back leg behind her as a counter balance. Check her shoulder level throughout the throw, she should stay close to horizontal. She may be trying for a high release point and tilting too much.

Follow up post.

We worked on the throwing in the offseason, and she looks somewhat better playing catch, but the action is similar to what I put up originally when she throws in a game :cautious:

It is not an accuracy issue but as you can see she gets nothing on the ball.

Is she separating her hands at her rear shoulder rather then at the chest?
