We all agree the barrel gets delivered to the ball, but this doesn't explain what you mean by "you promote TTB" but not "forced supination".

Apologize if I'm missing something in your explanation here

Julray,

It could be viewed as an oar lock effect with the top hand. Meaning it turns naturally.

The hands have to be used early. It’s not something you wait and use them late. You don’t want to wait until bat lag and then use the hands. You want the the top hand to pivot and create an arc from the start.

This could work for a particular hitter.. This is the type of thinking that can prevent a balanced sequence of movements... Don't try to force actions of certain segments out of sequence.. Its why we see many kids lose there athleticism..

It might feel awkward when you first try it. Once you learn it, it’s rather simple. I made the mistake of trying to do it only in the upper leg/hip. Once I involved the spirals all the way from the foot up it became very easy.

Some posters are just trying to understand what you mean FP, don't be so cynical LOL. Explain that. IMO, you either consciously TTB or the barrel turns as a result. As Tatis jr says his hands are quiet, he gets to launch and takes his hands to the ball. Hands are not quiet if you are focused on TTB

Actually my hands are quiet and relaxed before TTB. I would teach the same to kids as well, relaxed hands. I’ve always believed in relaxed hands.

So you agree with Tatis jr, hands quiet and direct to the ball?? Are your hands quiet while TTB?

That’s your definition of TTB, it’s differs from FP26, thanks for explaining

What do you mean by "actively trying"? When I'm in the box the only thing I'm actively trying to do is hit the ball.

Also, based on most of the videos I see, if they are actively trying to hit the top of the ball during game swings, they really suck at it. Just speaking about basic physics (sorry pattar), but if the bat actually hits the top of the ball what direction do you think the ball will go in after contact?

FP26, I always tried to hit the top of the ball (not pounding into the ground) and hit line drives.. It worked really well.. I was 5'7" 150 and lead our Amateur team in hitting for 3 years including avg and power.. My last year I lead the team in Homeruns.

Here, is my little bro's numbers (18 years younger) his senior year DII (sorry not DI) utilizing the same approach with me attempting to fill the void as his dad/hitting coach since our dad passed away when he was 12 years old... He was also 3rd on that team in HR's..

So having the goal of hitting the top of the ball that the pros speak of has some merit..
