I had to take my sister this morning for her pitching lesson with her coach at a local facility. After practice, she was complaining about soreness in her right shoulder particularly the back of her upper arm. She has seen teammates of her's using KT tape for sore muscles and minor strains and she had thought about wanting to use it, herself for her soreness. What has you guys' experience been using KT tape and did it work for you or your daughter? If it helps, she's been pitching somewhere around 32-37 innings in just about every tournament she's pitched in.

Unless the need for her to pitch or practice is urgent, she should rest for a bit. If you have soreness, it means you are overdoing it and should step back a bit.

This. How many tournaments in a row is she playing? And how much time off is she taking? Not just from pitching, but from throwing a ball in general.

If she's experiencing soreness on the backside of her arm or shoulder she just needs to stop for a few days (even a week) and let it heal. Continued use will extend the soreness and/or make it worse. This comes from personal experience and working with my DD.

To answers the initial question.....yes, KT Tape can help with shoulder/arm soreness. DD experienced some shoulder pain and needed to get through a tournament. It didn't eliminate the pain, but did alleviate it enough to finish out her games. Then we shut her down for a few weeks to heal it completely.

She's played in every tournament her team has played in. She starts in roughly 70-80 percent of the games her team plays. But she plays in every game if not pitching, then she plays short.

She has tried to rest but not practicing or playing drives her nuts. To her, she has to be on the field contributing to her team. Her pain isn't debilitating or anything like that. But...she definitely knows it's there.

My first recommendation is to fix the soreness. And that’s letting the body heal. Short time down saves a long time of injury.

But, if she can’t/won’t, then KT Tape can help. There are a ton of YouTube videos that show how to dress it based on the pain location.

I'm going to try to get her to rest the shoulder. She's wanting to pitch through it. I said it was ill-advised to do so. We're going to try the tape if she won't rest it. I was up watching vids anyway because I'm shopping for my dorm at one in the morning, lol.
