Notable only because it hasn't happened in so long, and the default has been this line up on the foul lines and wave, but at tournament this weekend after the championship game (which our team lost, ugh, to a team we have a friendly rivalry with), the girls lined up, shook hands (or high fived) the old fashioned way, then took pics together.

Maybe it's already been happening in other parts of the country, but here in NE it was the first time in a LOOOONG time, and just nice to see.

We did too for the first time at a 'friendly' on Saturday. Honestly, I much prefer the "stand by your dugout and wave" method. One of the few things from Covid that I wish would stay.....

I agree with this, and it has nothing to do with the dangers of COVID.

We're still doing the wave/good game thing. I'm trying to make it stick.

I like the wave and good game. But I’d like to see the teams lineup on the baselines to do it.

Half the time it seems you only get a coach and a couple girls who actually turn and wave.

Agreed. The "wave from the dugout" is preferred by me as well. Gets girls out of dugout a bit faster. Hopefully the prayer circle thing is gone for good too. I believe in a separation of church and softball, just like The Constitution says.

What is the high five line for?
Settle the competition on common ground?
Maybe supposed to be a peaceful thanku that was fun...cuz doesnt always come off that way. Can even spark rivalry issues.

It does seem an attendance on the line and wave could be fine and clock efficient!

In this case, it really was mutual appreciation for a well played (2-0 pitchers' duel) championship game between 2 teams with a friendly rivalry. No one told them to shake hands, they just lined up and did it.

I understand that as a default it doesn't always make sense. Not all games are good games. Not all opponents display behavior worth respecting (even if the game deserves respect).

Like that mutual appreciation!

Neat after games when players who know eachother share extending camaraderie. Have also walked across the field to pay compliment to players on other teams i didnt know.

Still with 10 minutes in between games...
Would consider efficiency on this topic.
Keeping salutations for inspired moments when time allows. :)

Things change.
This could be fine.

Intested in how many
Would prefer one or the other???
