Whenever these examples are posted where someone is doing a demonstration of the hands and the "hit down," what is almost always missing is the pelvic tilt to lateral tilt. The hand path of the demonstration in the gym and the posted swing are not the same. If you have seen the demonstration of Pujols from MLB Station and then look at his game swings, that is what is missing there as well.

its not ‘hit down’. it’s swing down.

the path chosen (think at the beginning) is exactly the same. The finish is different. But the start is exactly the same.

same here.

Donihoo hits (or used to at least) with DD's org head so I was sitting there watching her hit once and she was complaining that even before she stepped on campus, JT was trying to change her handset. I didn't pay attention to the differences between her setup last year and this year but she hit like garbage last year so I don't know if the experiment was abandoned this year or not..

I never can get these things to play so ... I know everyone has seen this clip of Albert before. Pelvic tilt to lateral tilt.

Votto. Look again at shoulders and hands. Pelvic tilt to lateral tilt.

These two looks similar to me and I can see the similarities in the Oklahoma swings in them.

But I still have great trouble seeing how this movement in the gym demonstration:

Has any similarity to getting in this position:

No, I really don't. They look pretty darn close to opposite to me, lol.

I'm perfectly willing to admit I'm pretty dense when it comes to swing mechanics, but I just can't see similarity in barrel or hand path.

the hands are active from the start. that makes the ‘swing’ go. The first goal is ‘get on top’... the ‘floating’ of the hands so to speak. That’s why the feel and real is swing down. That’s the link. from there they launch the swing.

the swing works the same way north/south as it does east/west. If your constantly attacking from outside the ball, that’s not good. if your always attacking from underneath, that’s not good either. So pros set the back arm pretty tight to stay inside and get above the ball from the start of the sequence to stay on top. So they must swing down to multitude of degrees.
