Read the pitching stickies on this website to know whether the PC is heading in the direction you want. Many coaches just teach what they were taught, as well as pitchers. ON DD's school team i still see the other pitchers warming up with wrist flicks, which IMO makes me think their PC is teaching hello elbow. And this individuals coach is her dad/assistant coach. It is all i can do to keep from going up to the coach and tell him about DFP.

@Hillhouse She's in rec this year and we finish up close to the end of June. I have lessons scheduled with the to be Freshman coach through summer and none with the HS/travel coach, and anticipate keeping it that way until university classes start and then probably go back to the HS/travel coach. Ironically we learned the Freshman was taught by the HS/Travel coach's dad so I'm anticipating somewhat consistent teaching.
@flogzilla yes, I think I already figured this out, I try to be a very silent observer unless I have a question of what to watch for in form when she is at her lessons which if I can remember accurately and if necessary I will discuss it when we are practicing at home. There have already been a few times when I got the "daaaaadd that's not how she showed me"

@fanboi22 yep I feel like I can already observe the HE- I/R difference. I think I finally saw one other girl last night on the other team throwing I/R. Otherwise the three other pitchers on my team, two of which are AC DD (one AC pitched in HS 10? years ago) and most of the other pitchers in our league are HE. I feel the same way somedays about DFP but being my first year coaching FP I feel I should pick my battles very carefully. From what I've learned on DFP the HE will start to sort itself out starting next year for them.
Both pitching coaches are teaching I/R

Just curious if there is a general time frame when I might expect to see a velocity increase?

How fast is she throwing now?

Where are you located?

There are some really great PCs out there, and some really weak PCs.

I don't know but compared to others its probably around 20? I feel like her accuracy and speed are incrementally improving.
Central southern lower Michigan, I feel the HS/travel coach will be adequate later this Fall, I like her very objective and straight forward discussions, she doesn't give us a workout she works with DD to correct and then gives her "homework" to prepare for next lesson. Freshman I feel will work well for now and is a bit cheaper, I understand it's a gamble but I think in our situation it's reasonable.

That's what you hope for, but... please know I"m speaking generically, not with knowledge of who anyone in this scenario is. So, keep in mind a lot of what is taught isn't what someone actually does. Jennie Finch likes to say how much her father helped her with pitching and he goes on tour selling his "windmill" and promoting her gold medals. But she doesn't pitch the way she teaches or presumably how her father would be teaching. Somewhere along the way, Jennie made changes to how she pitches to achieve real results. Probably on a subconscious level. So, it would be interesting to hear what the differences are between the Freshman and the dad who teaches. Does the Freshman just regurgitate what she heard as a young pitcher or is she situationally aware of what she does vs. what she was taught?

Where are you located?

I feel she can appropriately see and direct corrections in form at least for now. I'm not getting the impression she is just regurgitating what she was taught.

Use your phone to take video, if there is a slo-mo feature use it. There are also some apps you can use that will let you slow it down and play it forward and backwards. Educate yourself, you don't have to provide instruction but you need to be able judge if it's on point.
