Thanks @Westwind for making my point for me. I stated some people just don't want to see female umps in the game and you think that is the dumbest post yet?? Are you really that blind????? Women are fighting to have a bigger role in every aspect of sports yet there are plenty that would prefer that doesn't happen or doesn't think it is important enough. Did you see the NCAA Women's Basketball tournament? Sorry you think it is dumb but it is a fact sir!
Your bias and preconceived agenda has both blinded you to what is really being said and caused you to conflate issues that are unrelated. Unequal treatment in the NCAA tournament absolutely happened and is a red herring in this conversation. Saying that a female umpire did a poor job is not the same thing as saying that women are poor umpires. I've run into literally zero people across any softball organization in 10 years who have stated or insinuated that they want no or fewer female umpires. In fact, I've seen several organizations actively seeking more women to umpire.

You are the only person pointing out that it was a female ump. I watched the game and didn’t even remember that it was a female umpire. I don’t think anyone’s opinion of the calls would have changed had it been a male ump. Westwind certainly didn’t help make your point. The bad calls were bad because they were bad, not because a female made them. Kind of like I believe you are wrong in your presumptions here and I have no idea what your gender is.

What are you talking about and why do you want to relate it to a particular game?

I made a very simple general statement and I will re-state it again and throw some quotes on it. " Some people just don't want to see female umps in the game. Just sad."

I stand by that and know for certain it is true as I have seen it at times for years and years. Getting better I feel but still along way to go.

I will add if it helps that SOME does NOT mean all but hopelly that doesn't need further explanation.

Also of importance, I did not point any finger or call out anyone here and would hope to God the people here do NOT fall in the SOME category. It is a simple statement.

Trying to make it more than that really doesn't do anyone any good but feel free to keep at it.

Something was up that day because I also saw a ball bounce off the top of outfield wall then proceeded up to a safety fence where it bounced back into the field of play that was ruled live ball not home run. Then later another ball hit top of fence but didn’t go over bounced back into field and it was ruled a home run.

I will do a simple cut and paste to my previous response. The question is what is your preconceived agenda?

Your taking a simple statement and applying it to something that I have nothing to do with.

I’m relating it to a particular game because that particular game is the topic of this thread. Pretty simple answer.
You made a very simple general statement about a subject not being discussed in this thread. You brought it here and felt it applied to this situation apparently. Don’t act like you just innocently brought something up that was relevant to the discussion and we are reacting crazy. Are there people that fall under your claim? Sure. Is it even close to a majority? No.

So at the end of the day you agree. Pretty simple and would have saved you alot of typing if you hadn't ASSumed what I mean but instead asked for clarification.

Can you tell me what assumption I made? Thanks

This is the kind of thread that makes me yearn for a return to the simpler time of the "Does a riseball really rise?" thread.

In summation:

Some umpires are bad. Other umpires are good. Some umpires are women, while others are men. Therefore, it is possible that an umpire could be either male or female, and that the same umpire could be either bad or good.
