I'm telling you guys, best thing to do if you run GC is to ask people around you to help make the calls. Fine the people who know the game well, and say things like:
"Error on 3b, right?"
"Single, advancing to second on error, right?"
Then either others hear the confirmation and back off before they even know to object, or you can say "I asked others for help on that call and that's what they said".
I'm going to say that "your mileage may vary" using that method. It should be noted that I originally started videoing games way back in 2011-2012 for the sole purpose of electronic scoring after the game. Too many parents offered too many "suggestions" during the game.
Dad: "You scored that a double, right?" Me (in my head) "How do I explain to dad that 2nd based tripped on his shoestrings trying to get to the little dribbler up the middle. Then shanked it to right field trying to throw to first." Me (out loud) "Well, it was close and I'm probably harder on the kids to help make them better, but: E4, advance to second on throwing error." [insert harsh sailor response here]
Why not choose "Other" for both since that's the correct option based on the choices given?
I've done GC for all 5 seasons of our team. Haven't had 1 time where a parent asked/complained about my scoring. Maybe they just keep it behind my back..... The players on the other hand are quick to ask about whether their at bat was scored a hit or error.
Sounds like my kind of guy...I can honestly say the person who does game changer on my DD's team is definitely not biased towards his daughter. I sometimes have to remind him she not spiderman.
