1991. One of the most memorable and effective pitchers I've ever faced in HS or college.

More recent than I expected. Would have loved to have seen that. :)

I have tried, with limited success to convince a few HS pitchers of necessity to try slingshot. The ones that embraced it did ok. Not fast, but very few walks and usually kept the ball near the river.

This girl could bring it. Had a wicked pre-motion that the DFP PC's would have a stroke over. She twisted her body and arms from side to side then bent over completely and released from low to the ground. Since the state finals were the first time our team had ever faced her, we were so hung up on her motion that we didn't know where to focus to pick up the ball on the release. She didn't throw a change up to my recollection but the decent speed coupled with the convoluted delivery threw batters off enough to make her very effective.

This was in NJ in case you were wondering.

Funny.
We faced a similar pitcher this past summer. She was a traditional windmill, with a full aerobics routine on every single pre-pitch. Left, Right, up, down, on her toes, head reared back, mouth hanging open....stupidest looking pitcher I've ever seen.
She had average speed, but our girls timing was so messes up. It took them until the 4th or 5th inning before they figured her out.
So, I can see how a slingshot pitcher would have the same disruptive (non traditional) timing aspect towards batters.

A huge congratulations to her!!!
She is a homeschooler playing 7th grade ball. So, she was nervous. Her team was behind, to a very strong team 2-0 and she threw 3 innings. 10 pitches the first inning. And 3 straight Ks the 3rd inning. The middle inning had 2 hits, where the ball bounced off player's gloves and she also walked 2 batters. 2 runs scored. But, she fielded a line drive for the 3rd out.

Their #1 pitcher throws 49 mph and my gal throws 33. It was quite the contrast. The opposing girls were just swinging wildly and most hits were weak to the infield.

We will see what her coach thinks, but we (me, mom and the girl) were happy.

My daughter was taught a slingshot early on and she would use it on a rare occasion. Her best pitch was actually a changeup using the slingshot. It was basically just the show it/throw it drill.

You don't happen to recall the high school, do you?

I'm sensing NJ folks on this thread. I should he more careful what I post.

I have always admired your dedication to the kids you work with Amy. I'd still like to get DD to Az for some workouts.
