I can see this stuff creating a 1 piece swing, no sequencing. Need to see some gifs with the lower half already fired with upper body resisting

Any drill, if not used properly, can create issues. The instructor needs to understand the drill and make sure that the player does it properly.

If using this to teach. The instructor and player has to know where in sequence this is occurring. So I would say that it is not creating a 1 piece swing.

28 inch pipe to the tri-connector, then 4 inch coming out other side of connector and 12-inch pipe down (hope that makes sense)

The forearm piece is the key. It helps keep the perpendicular relationship between the barrel and rear forearm. Think about keeping that relationship when turning the barrel...

Wondering if I built correctly - my forearm piece extends UNDER my forearm, and essentially forces me in to a split grip. Am I whack?
