DD's best pitches are her rise and change. She mixes in a drop but doesnt often throw anything else. As they say, if you have eight pitches, that means you really dont have any. She doesn't have elite speed so she relies on accuracy and mixing speeds.

Understand, DD throws 52-55 and just turned 13. Locates FB really good. Change is very good and curve normally. Drop not as consistent. Rise has really gotten better the last month but still not consistent enough. Screwball isn't consistent at all. That's all she works on which is a lot.

Your DD is young. Lots of time to work on whatever she wants. But a pitcher doesnt need 5 or 6 pitches to be effective. 3 or 4 is plenty.

A fastball thrown to locations can be all you need (if you have mastered hitting the corners), A fastball and change is even better. Having two quality pitches can be very good.

Agreed, but as they get older I love a pitch(Drop, Rise etc) that changes the path of a traditional fastball.
