Illegal pitch is a delayed dead ball. The playing action must complete before the penalty for the illegal pitch is assessed. If the offense gains enough advantage from the illegal pitch the coach can opt to accept the action of the play as opposed to the illegal pitch. The illegal pitch is also nullified if the batter reaches first base and each runner on base advances at least one base.

In the instance of the girl preventing the ball from entering the strike zone, immediate dead ball, no other runners will be able to advance and the batter will not reach first base on a dead ball strike. Therefore, the illegal pitch will likely stand and the count will become 1-2.
