I was amused by the part describing what the parents are like. The author must be sitting in the wrong sections. At the college games I've attended, including high-level D1 games, there is plenty of grumbling in the stands and frustrated parents yelling advice to their kids. Maybe not as pervasive as HS or travel ball, but there are always a couple. Some VERY loudly.

I get a kick out of watching one of the LSU’s parent/fan on tv. The guy sits directly behind home plate and is always cheering/yelling.
