I do understand what you're saying, but let's go back to the whole "we love multi-sport athletes" argument that we hear so often. How can kids become multi-sport athletes if they're expected to specialize at age 10? You can't have it both ways...I think a big part of sports, even in 10U rec, is learning about commitment. It's one thing to miss an occasional practice or game, it's another to sign up for an activity knowing you're only going to be there half the time. We'll have to agree to disagree.
